New Delhi, December 29, 2025:
The Hon’ble Minister for Urban Development, Government of Delhi, Ashish Sood, conducted an on-site inspection of sanitation arrangements at two locations in Ward No. 107 of the Vikaspuri Assembly constituency, including areas near DAV Public School and PM Society. The inspection was carried out to review the condition of cleanliness, garbage management, and civic infrastructure in the area.
During the inspection, the Minister closely examined the functioning of Fixed Compactor Transfer Stations (FCTS) and other sanitation-related facilities. He issued necessary directions to the concerned officials to ensure immediate improvement in cleanliness standards and overall hygiene.
Following the inspection, Ashish Sood directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to install view-cutters in front of garbage depots at both locations without delay, so that accumulated waste is not visible to commuters, residents, and school-going children. He also instructed officials to conduct a detailed feasibility study to identify suitable alternative sites for relocating the garbage depots currently located in front of DAV Public School and PM Society, with the objective of shifting them away from residential areas at the earliest possible time.
Highlighting the Delhi Government’s strong commitment to maintaining cleanliness and urban hygiene, the Minister stated that under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, the government is taking continuous and multi-level measures to ensure a clean, healthy, and well-managed capital. He added that the Chief Minister, along with all cabinet ministers, is regularly visiting various parts of Delhi to personally monitor development works and civic services.
Sood further informed that the Delhi Government has already released a financial assistance of ₹175 crore to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to strengthen sanitation and civic services. Additionally, a proposal to provide an additional grant of ₹500 crore is currently under consideration by the Delhi Government Cabinet to further enhance municipal operations and infrastructure.
Addressing the issue of dust pollution and road cleanliness, the Urban Development Minister said that the government has decided to provide one mechanical road sweeping machine in each Assembly constituency. This initiative aims to ensure scientific and efficient cleaning of roads while reducing dependency on manual labour and improving overall operational efficiency.
The Minister also noted that with the continuous increase in Delhi’s population, waste generation has significantly risen. In such circumstances, scientific waste management, modern equipment, and systematic monitoring are essential to prevent inconvenience to citizens and to maintain environmental sustainability.
Reiterating the government’s vision, Ashish Sood emphasized that cleanliness is not merely a campaign but a core priority linked to public health, urban infrastructure, and quality of life. He affirmed that under the leadership of Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Government is committed to ensuring transparency, quality, and timely execution of all sanitation-related works. The purpose of regular field inspections, he said, is to assess ground realities and ensure that the people of Delhi receive clean, safe, and well-maintained public spaces.
