New Delhi: The Delhi Legislative Assembly is scheduled to meet on Thursday, 8 January 2026 (18 Paush 1947 Saka) at 11:00 AM, with a comprehensive agenda covering legislative, financial, and administrative business.
The proceedings will commence with Question Hour, during which Starred Questions listed separately will be asked, and replies provided. Replies to Un-Starred Questions will be laid on the Table of the House. Following this, Members may raise matters under Special Mention (Rule-280), with the permission of the Chair.
A key highlight of the session will be the Presentation and Voting on Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2025-2026, which will be presented by Chief Minister and Finance Minister Rekha Gupta. The first batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants for the current financial year will be laid before the House.
The Assembly will also consider the Introduction, Consideration, and Passing of a Bill. Rekha Gupta will introduce The Delhi Appropriation (No. 1) Bill, 2026 (Bill No. 04 of 2026) with the leave of the House and will move that the Bill be considered and passed during the session.
Several reports will be laid on the Table of the House. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will present multiple reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, including the State Finance Audit Reports for the years ending 31 March 2021, 2022, and 2023; reports on Revenue, Economic, Social, and General Sectors and PSUs for 2020 and 2021; a Performance Audit Report on Children in Need of Care and Protection for 2021; and the Audit Report on Delhi Jal Board operations for 2022.
Higher Education Minister Ashish Sood will present the Annual Accounts along with the Separate Audit Report of CAG and the Action Taken Report (English version), as well as the Annual Report of Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIITD) in both Hindi and English for the financial years 2021-22 and 2022-23.
The Assembly will also witness the Presentation of Reports by Ajay Kumar Mahawar and Abhay Verma, who will present the First Report of the Committee on Public Accounts. Following this, the House will consider the Adoption of Reports, including the Third Report of the Business Advisory Committee presented on 6 January 2026, moved by Mohan Singh Bisht and Abhay Verma, and the First Report of the Committee of Privileges, moved by Parduyman Singh Rajput and Abhay Verma.
The session will include the Consideration and Passing of the Court Fees (Delhi Amendment) Bill, 2026 (Bill No. 01 of 2026). Legislative Affairs Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh will move that the Bill, introduced on 6 January 2026, be taken into consideration and subsequently passed.
Further, two bills will be introduced in the Assembly: The Delhi Jan Vishwas (Amendment Provisions) Bill, 2026 (Bill No. 02 of 2026) by Pravesh Sahib Singh and Delhi Shops and Establishments (Amendment) Bill, 2026 (Bill No. 03 of 2026) by Labour Minister Kapil Mishra, both with the leave of the House.
Two statements under Rule-270 will be made by Ministers. Manjinder Singh Sirsa will provide an update on the current environmental status in Delhi and key government initiatives to control pollution. Ashish Sood will make a statement on the 150th Anniversary of the National Song Vande Mataram.
The Assembly will also host a Congratulatory Motion under Rule-114, moved by Anil Kumar Sharma, congratulating the Government of NCT of Delhi on the successful implementation of the Atal Canteen Yojna.
Finally, the Motion of Thanks on the Lieutenant Governor’s Address, moved by Ravinder Indraj Singh on 6 January 2026, will continue. This motion expresses the House’s gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor for the address delivered on 5 January 2026.
The agenda reflects the Assembly’s focus on financial management, legislative reforms, governance accountability, environmental action, and recognition of key government initiatives, ensuring comprehensive discussions and decision-making during the session.
