Preparations are underway in Gautam Buddh Nagar for the upcoming National Lok Adalat scheduled to be held on May 09, 2026. During a press conference organized at the district court complex, District Judge Atul Srivastava shared detailed information about the National Lok Adalat and the upcoming special settlement campaign planned later this year. He stated that the primary objective of the Lok Adalat system is to provide speedy, affordable, and amicable justice to citizens through mutual settlement and compromise.
The District Judge informed that National Lok Adalat proceedings will be conducted at the district headquarters as well as all tehsil courts across Gautam Buddh Nagar district. A wide range of pending disputes related to civil matters, family disputes, banking cases, revenue matters, and motor accident compensation claims will be taken up for settlement through mutual agreement between the parties.
According to judicial officials, Lok Adalats play a crucial role in reducing the burden on courts while ensuring quicker resolution of disputes. The initiative is considered one of the most effective alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in India’s judicial system.
The District Judge explained that cases related to motor accident compensation claims, matrimonial disputes, succession matters, civil suits, Motor Vehicles Act violations, e-challan cases, arbitration disputes, compoundable criminal cases, cheque bounce cases under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, electricity-related disputes, land revenue matters, pension and service-related disputes, labor disputes, and other similar cases will be taken up during the National Lok Adalat proceedings.
Apart from court-pending matters, several disputes at the pre-litigation stage will also be resolved through settlement and compromise. These include bank loan disputes, electricity bill-related cases, and telecommunications bill disputes. Authorities believe that resolving such matters before they reach formal litigation can significantly reduce judicial workload and provide faster relief to citizens.
During the press interaction, the District Judge emphasized the need for extensive public awareness regarding the National Lok Adalat. He appealed to citizens whose disputes can be settled through compromise to take advantage of the platform and resolve their matters peacefully. He stated that Lok Adalats save both time and money while also helping maintain social harmony and relationships between parties.
The press conference also highlighted the upcoming “Samadhan Samaroh” campaign aimed at resolving eligible cases pending before the Supreme Court through special Lok Adalats. As part of this initiative, special settlement courts will be organized on August 21, 22, and 23, 2026.
The District Judge stated that litigants whose matters are currently pending before the Supreme Court and have the possibility of mutual settlement can participate in the special Lok Adalat proceedings under the Samadhan campaign. The initiative is expected to help reduce the number of long-pending disputes while promoting faster and more effective justice delivery.
Additional District Judge and National Lok Adalat Nodal Officer Somprabha Mishra, District Legal Services Authority Secretary Shivani Rawat, and several other officials were also present during the event. Judicial authorities stated that efforts are continuously being made to strengthen alternative dispute resolution systems in order to provide citizens with accessible and efficient justice mechanisms.
Legal experts believe that National Lok Adalats have emerged as an important solution for reducing the growing pendency of cases in Indian courts. The system enables people to settle disputes without prolonged litigation while encouraging consensus-based resolution methods that are less stressful and more cost-effective.
