India’s Census 2027 self-enumeration process has officially begun in Uttar Pradesh, marking a major step toward digital governance and citizen-led data collection. Residents across the state can now visit the official census portal and fill out their census details online as part of the nationwide self-enumeration initiative. The move is aimed at making the census process more transparent, efficient, and accessible while encouraging greater public participation in one of the country’s most significant administrative exercises.

The self-enumeration campaign was formally initiated in the Noida Authority area, where Member of Parliament Mahesh Sharma became one of the first public representatives to complete the online census process. Senior officials from the Noida Authority and district administration were also present during the launch event, highlighting the government’s focus on ensuring widespread awareness and participation in the digital census exercise.

Officials present at the event included Special Duty Officer Indu Prakash Singh, City Magistrate Arvind Mishra, Manager Deepak Kumar, and MP representative Sanjay Bali. During the program, administrative authorities emphasized the importance of census data in shaping government policies, development projects, welfare programs, infrastructure planning, healthcare distribution, educational initiatives, and urban development strategies.

Speaking during the event, Mahesh Sharma stated that the census is not merely a statistical exercise but a crucial foundation for future planning and governance. He said accurate population data helps the government implement schemes more effectively and ensures that public resources are distributed in a balanced and targeted manner. He appealed to residents of Noida and nearby regions to actively participate in the self-enumeration process and complete their online census submissions within the prescribed timeline.

Under the self-enumeration system, citizens are required to provide details related to their household, family members, education, occupation, housing conditions, and other demographic information through the online platform. Authorities believe the digital approach will significantly reduce paperwork, improve data accuracy, and make the overall census operation faster and more efficient.

The self-enumeration initiative is also expected to reduce the burden on field staff involved in the census process. By allowing residents to directly upload their information, officials hope to minimize data entry errors while speeding up verification and compilation. The administration believes the use of digital technology will help modernize India’s census operations and align them with evolving governance standards.

Krishna Karunesh also completed the self-enumeration process and encouraged citizens to participate actively in the campaign. He urged residents to complete their online census submissions between May 7 and May 21, 2026, so that authorities can gather updated and accurate demographic information. He added that digital self-enumeration represents an important step toward data-driven governance and smart administrative planning.

The administration has launched awareness campaigns through social media, local outreach programs, public communication drives, and administrative meetings to educate people about the online process. Officials are also working to ensure that citizens understand how to access the portal and submit information correctly. Authorities believe public cooperation will be essential for the successful completion of Census 2027.

Experts believe Census 2027 will play a major role in understanding India’s changing social and economic landscape. The data collected through the census will help policymakers design future strategies related to employment, healthcare, education, transportation, housing, and public welfare. In a large and densely populated state like Uttar Pradesh, the introduction of digital self-enumeration is being viewed as a significant administrative transformation.

Government authorities have appealed to citizens to voluntarily participate in the process and provide accurate information to support national planning and development. Officials say the success of Census 2027 will depend heavily on public awareness, participation, and cooperation during the self-enumeration phase.
