Aligarh, 06 Sept (HS): Following a summons from the university’s teachers’ organization, teachers seeking the appointment of Aligarh Muslim University’s vice chancellor staged a dharna at the teaching staff club on Wednesday and observed save AMU day. Obaid Ahmad Siddique, secretary of the AMU teachers Association (AMUTA), told reporters that instructors are profoundly concerned about the university’s situation, considering the lack of a permanent vice chancellor for more than four months. Previously, Tariq Mansoor resigned as AMU’s vice chancellor after being appointed to the UP Legislative Council in April. According to AMUTA secretary Siddiqui, a dysfunctional state of affairs on campus is also leading to a deterioration in the law and order situation on campus.
He went on to say that if the process of hiring a permanent vice chancellor is not started immediately, teachers will be forced to intensify their stir. Since Mansoor’s departure, Pro Vice Chancellor Mohammad Gulrez has been acting as VC.
