Kolkata, 07 September (HS): West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose said in a video message onThursday that he will continue his fight to make state universities free from corruption and violence.
His comments came at a time when there is a constant war of words between the state government and the Raj Bhavan over the appointment of interim vice-chancellors of some state universities by the Governor.
Bose said, ”I want the universities of the state to be free from violence and be the best in India.” He promised to continue the struggle for a ”corruption-free academia” in the name of Rabindranath Tagore, Netaji Subhash Chandra and Swami Vivekananda.
Speaking about the Raj Bhavan”s recent move to appoint interim vice-chancellors, Bose said, ”I have appointed them after the apex court ruled against some appointments made earlier by the state government.”
“There were allegations of corruption, sexual harassment and political interference against some of the vice-chancellors appointed earlier,” he claimed. ”The five vice-chancellors who resigned told me in confidence that they received threats,” Bose said.
