Athletes delivered impressive performances across several sporting events during the Delhi Khel Mahakumbh 2026, as multiple semifinal and final matches were held on Saturday. The multi-sport event witnessed enthusiastic participation from players across categories, with several competitions reaching their decisive stages and drawing strong support from spectators.
The grand finale of the volleyball competition under the Delhi Khel Mahakumbh was held at SKV A-Block School in Janakpuri. Delhi’s Education and Sports Minister Ashish Sood attended the event as the chief guest and extended his congratulations and encouragement to players participating in both the men’s and women’s categories. Additional Director Nitin Jindal was also present during the event.
In the men’s open category final, Masters Academy faced LPN Club in a competitive match. LPN Club delivered a strong performance to secure the championship title. Masters Academy finished in second place, while Kaptan Club secured third place after defeating Finance Club.
In the girls’ open category volleyball final, Jaunti Club competed against Tikri Kalan. Jaunti Club won the match to secure the first position, while Tikri Kalan finished second. The contest for the third position between Delhi Administration and Yuva Academy was ongoing at the time of reporting.
Football Competitions
Football matches also witnessed intense competition during the event. In the girls’ school category semifinal held at the Kohat Enclave Sports Complex, the team of JDMC defeated Modern School, Vasant Vihar by a score of 3–0 to secure a place in the final.
Another semifinal match in the same category was played between JMC and Bharti Public School at Thyagaraj Stadium.
In the girls’ open category football final held at Lok Vihar Sports Complex, HOPS FC faced HOPS FA. HOPS FA secured the championship title with a convincing 4–1 victory.
Basketball Competitions
Basketball matches under the Delhi Khel Mahakumbh were organized at Lok Vihar Sports Complex in Pitampura.
In the men’s college category, Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) competed against St. Stephen’s College, where SRCC emerged victorious. In another match, Kirori Mal College (KMC) faced Jamia Millia Islamia, with KMC securing the win.
In the women’s college category final, teams from SRCC and Lady Shri Ram College for Women (LSR) competed for the title. LSR delivered a strong performance to win the championship.
Wrestling Competitions
Wrestling matches were conducted at Chhatrasal Stadium as part of the multi-sport event. Competitions across different weight categories showcased intense competition among the participating athletes.
In the 50 kg and 53 kg weight categories, Aman secured the first position with an impressive performance, while Saurabh finished in third place. In the 57 kg category, Venkatesh delivered a notable performance. In the 61 kg category, Munendra from Thyagaraj secured the silver medal.
Government’s Commitment to Sports Development
Speaking during the event, Education and Sports Minister Ashish Sood said that the Delhi Khel Mahakumbh is not merely a sports competition but an important initiative aimed at strengthening the future of athletes in the capital.
He stated that the Delhi government is committed to building a strong sports ecosystem that enables young athletes to perform at national and international levels. According to him, the initiative focuses on providing better opportunities, training facilities, and infrastructure for emerging talent.
Sood informed that over the past month, more than 23,000 athletes have participated in various sports competitions organized under the Delhi Khel Mahakumbh. He emphasized that the government’s objective is not only to organize competitions but also to prepare athletes for major events such as the National Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and the Olympic Games.
Encouraging athletes, he said that achieving success at the international level requires continuous practice, discipline, and dedication. The Delhi government, he added, is committed to providing modern sports infrastructure, qualified coaches, and adequate resources to support athletes in their journey.
Competition Approaching Final Stage
With strong performances across different sports, the Delhi Khel Mahakumbh 2026 has created an energetic and competitive sporting environment in the capital. As several competitions conclude their final rounds, the multi-sport event is now moving toward its final stage.
