New Delhi, December 2025
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) today hosted its flagship National Conclave on “AI Evolution – The Maha Kumbh of AI” at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath, New Delhi, in the gracious presence of the Hon’ble Vice President of India, C. P. Radhakrishnan.
Addressing the gathering, Education Minister Ashish Sood highlighted that today’s generation stands at a civilisational crossroads, where technology developed by society begins to reshape its very fabric. For the current generation, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the transformative force redefining learning, teaching, assessment, governance, and decision-making. He emphasised that technology alone does not ensure progress; it is the values with which it is applied that determine whether it leads to empowerment or exclusion. “Education is not merely about information or credentials; it is about liberation from ignorance, inequality, poverty, and limited aspirations. This makes AI in evaluation critically important, as assessment shapes behaviour, influencing what students prioritise, what teachers emphasise, and what institutions reward,” he said.
Sood noted GGSIPU’s early adoption of Large Language Model (LLM)-based academic tools, which support curriculum design, research assistance, multilingual content creation, and formative assessment while maintaining academic integrity and human oversight. He stressed that responsible AI adoption is not about chasing novelty but thoughtfully integrating emerging capabilities into academic missions. The focus on AI-based evaluation at this conclave is a natural continuation of the University’s ongoing engagement with advanced AI systems.
Highlighting AI’s transformative potential, Sood said that if AI makes assessment more diagnostic, adaptive, transparent, and humane, it could fundamentally reshape education. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Double AI”—Artificial Intelligence and Aspirational India—he noted that combining technology with aspiration creates a powerful multiplier for national transformation.
He clarified that for Delhi, AI is not about mechanising classrooms or replacing teachers. Instead, it restores the human purpose of education. By automating repetitive tasks, data processing, and administrative burdens, AI allows teachers to mentor, inspire, guide, and nurture curiosity. “Our approach is clear: AI must strengthen teachers, empower learners, and improve learning outcomes, particularly for students left behind by traditional systems. India and Delhi are committed to AI for All,” he added.
Sood highlighted global evidence showing AI-enabled personalised learning improves outcomes, especially for students struggling in conventional classrooms. He also discussed the Delhi Government’s initiatives, including Vidya Samiksha Kendra, AI-powered education dashboards, and AI interventions in schools, which engage students in solving real-time civic challenges.
He announced the launch of AI Grind, India’s first city-centric AI innovation movement, which aims to reach nearly five lakh children, enabling discussions at home on AI solutions for daily urban challenges and cultivating a new generation of AI Youth Ambassadors.
Responding to concerns about employment displacement due to AI raised by Sandeep Ghosh, Sood recalled student protests against computers in his activist days, highlighting how technology, despite initial apprehensions, transformed lives. He assured that ethical, constructive, and governance-oriented AI use remains a priority, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
Under this framework, students from government schools are preparing prototypes addressing ten identified civic challenges, including pollution, traffic, and inclusive education, often involving parental participation to broaden learning and engagement.
Sood concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to fostering an ethical, inclusive, and empowering AI-driven future, ensuring that the aspirations and concerns of the younger generation are central to India’s AI journey.
This conclave reinforced GGSIPU’s role in promoting responsible AI adoption in education, combining technological innovation with ethical governance and social empowerment.
