New Delhi, January 23: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday said that ensuring timely, quality and affordable healthcare for every resident of the capital is a top priority of the Delhi Government. She underlined that the government is continuously working to develop Delhi as a major medical hub by constructing new hospitals, upgrading existing healthcare facilities and increasing the availability of specialist doctors across the city.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while inaugurating the NovaNeo Hospital in Budh Vihar Phase-1. The newly inaugurated hospital is equipped with modern medical infrastructure, with a special focus on the treatment and care of newborn infants. The inauguration ceremony was attended by North-West Delhi Member of Parliament Yogendra Chandolia, Rithala MLA Kulwant Rana, along with several other dignitaries, healthcare professionals and local residents.
Focus on Building Delhi as a Medical Hub
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the Delhi Government has adopted a comprehensive approach to strengthen the city’s healthcare system. She stated that multiple initiatives are underway to expand hospital infrastructure, improve medical services and ensure that advanced treatment options are accessible to all sections of society.
According to the Chief Minister, the government’s objective is to make sure that every citizen of Delhi receives high-quality medical care without delays and at an affordable cost. She emphasized that healthcare is a fundamental right and that no resident should be deprived of proper treatment due to lack of facilities or resources.
Inspection of Hospital Facilities
After inaugurating the hospital, the Chief Minister toured the NovaNeo Hospital premises and inspected various wards, diagnostic departments and specialised medical units. She reviewed the infrastructure, cleanliness standards and patient care facilities, and interacted with doctors and medical staff to understand the services being provided.
During her interaction with the medical team, the Chief Minister sought detailed information about the availability of modern medical equipment, diagnostic capabilities and specialised healthcare services. She also discussed the hospital’s preparedness to handle critical cases, particularly those related to newborn and infant care, which is a key focus area of the hospital.
Special Emphasis on Newborn Care
Highlighting the importance of neonatal healthcare, the Chief Minister said that specialised facilities for newborn infants play a crucial role in reducing infant mortality and ensuring healthy early development. She noted that hospitals like NovaNeo, which focus on advanced care for newborns, are an important addition to Delhi’s healthcare ecosystem.
She expressed confidence that the hospital would provide sensitive, reliable and high-standard medical care to patients and would contribute significantly to improving healthcare outcomes in the region.
Public–Private Partnership to Strengthen Healthcare
The Chief Minister said that while the Delhi Government is actively expanding government-run healthcare facilities, equal emphasis is being placed on strengthening healthcare services through public–private partnership models. She stated that collaboration between the government and private sector hospitals can help deliver better results, improve efficiency and expand access to advanced medical treatment.
According to her, such partnerships are essential to meet the growing healthcare needs of a rapidly expanding urban population. The government, she said, is committed to creating an enabling environment where private healthcare institutions complement public health efforts while maintaining high standards of affordability and quality.
Reducing the Need to Travel Outside Delhi for Treatment
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the government’s long-term vision is to ensure that residents of Delhi do not need to travel to other cities or states for medical treatment. By strengthening healthcare infrastructure within the capital, the government aims to make world-class treatment available locally.
She added that developing Delhi as a medical hub would not only benefit residents but also reduce the burden on families who often face financial and emotional stress when seeking treatment outside the city. Improved local healthcare facilities, she said, would enhance public confidence in the city’s health system.
Best Wishes to Hospital Management
Extending her best wishes to the management and staff of NovaNeo Hospital, the Chief Minister expressed hope that the institution would set new benchmarks in service quality, sensitivity and medical excellence. She said that hospitals must not only focus on advanced technology but also ensure compassionate care for patients and their families.
She reiterated that the Delhi Government remains fully committed to strengthening healthcare services across the capital and will continue to support initiatives that improve access to reliable, affordable and high-quality medical care.
