Greater Noida
In a renewed push to enhance road safety across the city, the Greater Noida Authority has launched a special inspection drive focusing on bridges, culverts, and construction zones. As part of this initiative, senior officials on Tuesday carried out on-ground inspections at multiple locations and issued strict directions to improve safety infrastructure and prevent accidents.
Inspection Drive Led by Senior Officials
The inspection was conducted by Additional Chief Executive Officers Sunil Kumar Singh and Prerna Singh under the directions of Greater Noida Authority Chief Executive Officer N G Ravi Kumar. The campaign aims to make road movement safer for commuters by identifying vulnerable points and ensuring the timely implementation of essential safety measures.
According to officials, the authority’s teams have been actively engaged in the drive since Monday, inspecting roads, bridges, and adjoining areas across different sectors of Greater Noida.
Focus on Bridges and Culverts Over Drains
During the inspection, the Additional Chief Executive Officers examined bridges constructed over drains in several parts of the city. Special attention was given to strengthening safety railings and ensuring adequate visibility for road users. Officials directed concerned departments to reinforce existing railings and install reflectors and cat’s eyes at critical locations to improve night-time visibility and reduce the risk of accidents.
The inspection team closely reviewed a culvert near Sector Gamma One and another near Sector P-3, where road safety measures were found to require immediate improvement. The officers emphasized that bridges and culverts must have robust safety features, especially in areas with regular vehicular movement.
Review of Construction Site Safety
As part of the drive, the Additional Chief Executive Officers also visited a builder project in Sector Pi One. During the inspection, they assessed the safety arrangements at the construction site and expressed concern over insufficient barricading. The builder was instructed to install additional barricades without delay to prevent any potential mishaps involving pedestrians or vehicles.
Officials made it clear that construction agencies must strictly comply with safety norms and ensure that no open or poorly secured areas pose a threat to public safety. They warned that negligence in this regard would invite strict action.
Immediate Repairs Ordered in Swarn Nagari
In Sector Swarn Nagari, the inspection team observed damaged slabs over roadside drains. Taking note of the potential danger, the officers directed the concerned departments to carry out immediate repairs. They stressed that broken slabs along roadsides not only disrupt traffic flow but also pose a serious risk to pedestrians and two-wheeler riders.
The authority reiterated that such hazards must be addressed promptly and that regular monitoring of roadside infrastructure would be intensified.
Inspection of Commercial Areas
The officials also inspected the City Center and Shagun Mart area in Sector P-1, which witnesses heavy footfall and traffic throughout the day. During the visit, necessary instructions were issued to improve safety arrangements and ensure smoother traffic movement. The officers underlined the need for clear demarcation, proper signage, and well-maintained infrastructure in busy commercial zones.
Objective of the Campaign
Officials said the ongoing inspection drive reflects the authority’s commitment to improving road safety standards across Greater Noida. The campaign is aimed at identifying accident-prone spots, rectifying infrastructure deficiencies, and ensuring compliance with safety norms by all stakeholders, including builders and contractors.
An official associated with the drive stated that the authority intends to continue such inspections regularly to minimize risks and enhance overall road safety. “Our priority is to ensure that commuters, pedestrians, and residents can move safely across the city. Any lapse in safety measures will be dealt with strictly,” the official said.
Officials Present During Inspection
Several senior officials accompanied the Additional Chief Executive Officers during the inspection. Senior Manager Manoj Sachan, Senior Manager Ratik, and Manager Sandhya Singh were present and participated in the review of various sites.
