A newly constructed Ayushman Arogya Mandir was inaugurated in the Janakpuri विधानसभा area, strengthening access to free primary healthcare services for local residents. Speaking at the event, Education Minister and Janakpuri MLA Ashish Sood stated that the center represents the government’s commitment to delivering healthcare services to every citizen, particularly at the community level.
He emphasized that the objective of the government is to ensure affordable, accessible, and high-quality healthcare close to people’s homes. The Ayushman Arogya Mandir model integrates consultation, diagnostics, prevention, and follow-up care under one roof, reducing both financial and logistical barriers for citizens.

Highlighting the importance of preventive healthcare, he said individuals above the age of 40 should undergo regular health check-ups every six months. In private hospitals, such packages can be costly, placing a significant burden on families. Government-run facilities aim to eliminate this burden by providing free diagnostics and treatment.
He further noted that citizens above 70 years of age are eligible for free health insurance coverage of up to ₹10 lakh under the Ayushman scheme, offering critical financial protection during serious medical conditions.
Currently, the Ayushman Arogya Mandir offers 14 laboratory tests, with plans to expand this number to 100 through outsourced services. Maternal and child healthcare services include prenatal check-ups, postnatal care, child growth monitoring, and nutritional counseling. Immunization services for children up to five years of age and expectant mothers are provided regularly.

The center also facilitates routine screening for diabetes and hypertension, early cancer detection, follow-up care, and lifestyle disease prevention. Mental health counseling and periodic health camps conducted by specialists will further enhance community healthcare outreach.
Announcing future initiatives, the Education Minister said a mobile dispensary service will soon be launched to deliver doctors, medicines, and basic diagnostic facilities directly to neighborhoods within Janakpuri.
Criticizing earlier healthcare arrangements, he said previous models lacked adequate staffing and infrastructure, limiting their effectiveness. The current approach prioritizes permanent facilities, trained professionals, and comprehensive services.
He concluded by urging residents to utilize the free healthcare services and contribute actively toward building a healthier Delhi.
