Noida Sculptor Rat Sutar Passes Away: Creator of World’s Tallest Statue, Statue of Unity

Renowned sculptor Rat Sutar, the mastermind behind the world’s tallest statue, the Statue of Unity, passed away in Noida after a prolonged illness. Sutar, who had been battling health issues for several days, was widely recognized for his exceptional contribution to Indian art and monumental sculpture.

Rat Sutar, a veteran in the field of sculpture, gained international acclaim for designing and executing the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, a tribute to India’s first Deputy Prime Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The statue, standing at an impressive 182 metres, not only holds the record for being the tallest statue in the world but has also become a symbol of national pride and engineering excellence.

Over his decades-long career, Sutar worked on several prominent projects across India and internationally, earning respect for his meticulous craftsmanship, innovative design, and attention to detail. His work has been instrumental in combining traditional sculpting techniques with modern engineering, creating monumental structures that have left a lasting impact on public art and national heritage.

Colleagues and art experts have lauded Sutar for his dedication and vision, noting that his ability to bring large-scale sculptures to life was unparalleled.
