In a significant development related to infrastructure planning in Noida, the authority has reopened the file for the proposed elevated road on the Faridabad–Noida–Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway. The elevated stretch is planned from Chhijarsi Cut to near the Baholpur underpass and is expected to be around 650 meters long.
Following the reopening of the file, the project will now undergo fresh surveys to reassess technical and traffic-related aspects. Two types of surveys, including traffic and technical surveys, will be conducted to ensure the project design aligns with current ground realities and traffic requirements.
According to officials, five agencies have been shortlisted for the survey work, out of which one will be selected. The chosen agency will be responsible for preparing updated reports that will guide the final design, cost estimation, and construction planning of the elevated road.
Officials stated that earlier survey reports no longer reflect present conditions due to increased traffic volume in the area over recent years. As a result, it was deemed necessary to reopen the file and initiate the planning process again to avoid future design or capacity issues.
The FNG Expressway is a key arterial route connecting Noida, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad. The Chhijarsi Cut, in particular, experiences frequent traffic congestion due to heavy vehicular movement, including commercial vehicles and local traffic. The proposed elevated road is expected to ease congestion and improve traffic flow along this stretch.
Once the survey work is completed, the authority will reassess project costs, make necessary design modifications, and finalize timelines. The tender process will be initiated only after these steps are completed to ensure smooth execution.
Daily commuters and local residents have welcomed the move, stating that the elevated road could significantly reduce travel time and traffic bottlenecks. However, concerns remain regarding repeated delays in the project, with residents urging the authority to ensure timely implementation this time.
Officials have assured that the project will be taken up on priority and all technical aspects will be carefully evaluated. The authority aims to complete pending infrastructure projects linked to the FNG Expressway in a phased and time-bound manner.
If the process moves as planned, the completion of surveys will pave the way for construction, offering long-term relief to commuters and improving overall connectivity in the region.
