Under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has made remarkable progress in developing world-class infrastructure. The state has significantly strengthened connectivity across air, road, rail, and water transport networks, thereby improving mobility, boosting industrial growth, and enhancing tourism and investment opportunities.
The integrated infrastructure development policy adopted by the state government has ensured seamless interlinking of expressways, highways, airports, and rail networks. As a result, industrial units, manufacturing hubs, and agricultural regions are now able to transport goods efficiently to national and international markets. From a tourism perspective, both domestic and international visitors are benefiting from smooth and safe transitions between different modes of transport.
Recognized as one of the fastest-growing state economies in the country, Uttar Pradesh has prioritized rapid and balanced infrastructure development. The construction of seven modern expressways across the state has transformed regional connectivity and accelerated economic activities.
As part of this vision, the ambitious initiative to connect all 17 operational airport terminals with two-lane roads has been successfully implemented. The Public Works Department has played a crucial and commendable role in executing this project. Due to the government’s clear vision, strong leadership, and departmental efficiency, road connectivity to airports has become significantly safer, smoother, and more convenient.
The project emphasized timely completion, superior quality, and strict adherence to technical standards. Road widening, durable construction, effective drainage systems, modern signage, street lighting, and comprehensive traffic safety measures were incorporated based on regional requirements.
Currently, 10 airport terminals were already connected through two-lane roads, with continuous maintenance and strengthening being carried out by the PWD. These include Agra, Jhansi, Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Ayodhya, Ghazipur, Meerut, Moradabad, Prayagraj, and Shravasti. Improved road conditions at these locations have ensured uninterrupted passenger movement and reduced traffic congestion.
Additionally, the PWD has successfully completed two-lane road connectivity to seven more airports, namely Aligarh, Chitrakoot, Sonbhadra, Azamgarh, Saharanpur, Kushinagar, and Kanpur. Completion of these projects has significantly eased transportation in the respective districts and provided fresh momentum to regional development.
Improved and safe access to these airports has given a strong boost to tourism. Prominent religious and cultural destinations such as Ayodhya, Kushinagar, Chitrakoot, and Shravasti have gained enhanced connectivity, contributing to local economic growth, increased trade, and employment generation. Furthermore, the construction of these roads is expected to improve traffic safety and reduce road accidents.
The successful linkage of all 17 airport terminals with two-lane roads stands as a testament to the technical expertise, efficiency, and commitment of the Public Works Department. Through sustained efforts, the Government of Uttar Pradesh has ensured that this initiative not only strengthens air transportation but also marks a significant milestone in transforming the state into a modern, robust, and infrastructure-driven economy.
