The IMS Noida organised a podcast session and pledge programme on the Nari Shakti Vandan Act to promote awareness and encourage discussions on women’s empowerment and participation in nation-building. The initiative was conducted under the Extension and Outreach Cell of the institute.
The programme focused on the role of women in nation-building, their empowerment, and their growing contribution across sectors. Participants engaged in discussions highlighting the importance of equal rights, dignity, and opportunities for women in building an inclusive and progressive society. At the end of the session, all attendees took a pledge to uphold women’s dignity, ensure equal rights, and contribute toward strengthening their participation in society.
Providing details about the event, Varsha Chhabaria, Head of the Extension and Outreach Cell, stated that the programme aimed to spread awareness about the provisions and significance of the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. She highlighted that the session brought together voices from grassroots and social sectors to discuss the impact of the legislation on women’s political and social participation.
The podcast featured several speakers, including former village head Vimlesh Sharma from Nithari village, Neerja Saxena, founder of Neerja Footpath Shala, Anganwadi worker Asha Kumari from Bahlolpur village, and Poonam Kumari. The speakers shared their perspectives on the importance of the Act and its potential to create new opportunities for women in leadership roles.
Vimlesh Sharma described the Nari Shakti Vandan Act as a historic and forward-looking step toward women’s empowerment. She emphasized that the legislation would enable greater participation of women in decision-making processes, allowing them to play a stronger role in political, social, and administrative domains. According to her, increased leadership opportunities for women would lead to positive societal transformation, inclusive growth, and renewed energy in governance.
Neerja Saxena highlighted that women are examples of talent, hard work, and determination. She stressed that when women are provided equal opportunities, platforms, and encouragement, they excel in fields such as education, science, administration, sports, business, arts, and social service. She added that recognizing women’s potential and enabling their growth is essential for the progress of society and the nation.
Asha Kumari and Poonam Kumari emphasized that the Act would also inspire women in rural areas to come forward and take on leadership roles. They noted that such initiatives are crucial in bridging the gap between urban and rural participation and ensuring that women from all backgrounds have access to opportunities for growth and representation.
The programme witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and staff of the institute. The discussions and pledge reflected a collective commitment toward building a more equitable society where women have equal rights, respect, and opportunities to contribute meaningfully.
