Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and State Minister Jitin Prasad were present at the event.

Set up as a joint venture between HCL Group and Foxconn, the advanced semiconductor unit is a landmark step in strengthening India’s role in the global semiconductor supply chain. PM Modi emphasized the crucial role of chips in mobile phones, automobiles, defense equipment, medical devices, and digital infrastructure.
The project will enhance India’s technological self-reliance and accelerate Make in India and Digital India initiatives. The unit will generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs and establish UP as a hub for high-tech manufacturing. The Prime Minister highlighted India’s ambition to become a global export center, not just meet domestic demand.

CM Yogi Adityanath noted that the project, with an investment exceeding ₹3,700 crore, is a matter of pride for the state and country. He stressed the establishment of a “Fearless Business” and “Trust of Doing Business” ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh, improving industrial investment and transforming Jewar into a secure and progressive industrial hub.
HCL Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra expressed gratitude for government support, while Foxconn Semiconductor Group President Bob Chen acknowledged local collaboration and partnership.

Union ministers, state ministers, MPs, local legislators, and senior officials from development authorities attended. India Chip marks North India’s first semiconductor plant and will be a milestone in establishing Uttar Pradesh as a high-tech manufacturing hub.
