The District Magistrate reviewed the RTE admission process and directed private schools to ensure 100 percent admissions for eligible children by March 31.
Gautam Buddh Nagar | March 13, 2026 — A review meeting regarding the admission process under the Right to Education (RTE) Act was held on Friday at the Collectorate auditorium under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate. The meeting was attended by managers and principals of private recognized schools in the district.
During the meeting, the progress of admissions for children belonging to disadvantaged groups and weaker sections in private schools was reviewed against the targets set for the academic session 2026–27.
Admission Process Under RTE Explained
District Basic Education Officer Rahul Pawar informed that under the RTE Act, the process of admitting eligible children to Class 1 or pre-primary classes in private recognized schools is being carried out as per the schedule prescribed by the government.
He explained that the process includes online applications, verification of application forms, and school allotment through a lottery system. Selected students are provided free education along with financial assistance for purchasing study materials and school uniforms.
Instructions to Ensure 100 Percent Admissions
While reviewing the progress, the District Magistrate directed that all private schools in the district must ensure 100 percent admissions against the allotted target by March 31, 2026.
He also instructed that all admissions must be updated on the Education Department’s portal to ensure transparency and effective monitoring of the admission process.
The District Magistrate further directed school authorities to maintain a cooperative and respectful attitude towards parents and ensure that eligible children do not face any difficulty during the admission process.
Action Warning for Non-Compliant Schools
Officials were also instructed to prioritize the admission of children whose names are included in the list provided by the Education Department.
The District Magistrate stated that schools achieving the full admission target will be recognized for their efforts. However, schools that fail to complete admissions within the stipulated timeline or show reluctance in admitting eligible students may face notices and necessary action.
If required, the recognition of such schools may also be cancelled, he warned.
The meeting was attended by Chief Development Officer Dr. Shivakant Dwivedi, District Basic Education Officer Rahul Pawar, and managers and principals of private recognized schools in the district.
