New Delhi, 17 December 2025:
Under the leadership of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Government has facilitated the provision of 25 oxygen concentrators along with 25 BiPAP machines for troops deployed in high-altitude and extremely challenging terrains, where oxygen levels are low and environmental conditions are harsh. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to national service and the welfare of personnel serving in difficult conditions.

The decision to provide the equipment was taken in coordination with the Oxygen Branch of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of NCT of Delhi, following a request from the concerned Medical Regiment. The move aims to ensure that troops stationed in inhospitable environments have timely access to oxygen support, mitigating risks related to hypoxia and other altitude-related health complications, which can affect both health and operational readiness.

Delhi Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh highlighted the significance of the initiative, stating, “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Government considers it a moral responsibility to support our troops working in inhospitable environments. Our soldiers serve the nation under some of the harshest conditions, and ensuring access to timely medical care is a duty we must collectively uphold. This step has been taken keeping national interest and the well-being of our troops at the forefront.”

The supplied equipment, which includes oxygen concentrators and BiPAP machines, will be used strictly for medical support and emergency care by the concerned unit. The receiving unit will be responsible for proper upkeep, responsible usage, and accountability as per established protocols, ensuring the equipment remains functional and available when required.

Troops deployed in high-altitude regions face extreme conditions, including low oxygen levels, freezing temperatures, and rugged terrain. Timely access to oxygen support and respiratory assistance is essential to maintain both physical health and operational preparedness. The Delhi Government’s provision of these units underscores its recognition of the unique challenges faced by personnel stationed in such demanding environments.

This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Delhi Government to strengthen medical preparedness and provide targeted support to armed forces personnel serving under extreme conditions. By ensuring that these troops have access to life-saving equipment, the government aims to contribute to their safety, well-being, and continued operational effectiveness.

The Delhi Health Department has emphasized that the decision reflects a combination of national responsibility and care for personnel who risk their health in service of the nation. The equipment will serve as a vital medical resource, enabling prompt response in case of emergencies and supporting overall troop readiness in high-altitude deployments.

This step by the Delhi Government is expected to enhance the confidence and safety of soldiers deployed in extreme environments, demonstrating a commitment to bridging gaps in medical preparedness and ensuring that troops receive essential support while performing their duties in challenging conditions.
