In a significant step to strengthen public healthcare in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated advanced medical facilities at Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital on Monday, including a 256-slice spectral CT scanner, a Neuro Cath Lab, and a modern Neuro ICU and Operation Theater Complex. The CM emphasized that these facilities will provide high-quality medical care to Delhi residents as well as patients coming from other states.
The event was attended by Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh and senior officials. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to bring the quality of healthcare in public hospitals at par with private institutions. The 256-slice spectral CT scanner installed at GB Pant Hospital is the first of its kind in any government hospital in North India. It will enable rapid and precise diagnosis of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, stroke, neurological disorders, and angiography, and will play a lifesaving role in many critical cases.
The CM further announced the establishment of a Philips Angiorion Monoplan Neuro Cath Lab, representing a major advancement in neurological care. This lab will assist doctors in treating stroke, brain tumors, aneurysms, and other complex neurovascular conditions. Additionally, the hospital’s old Neuro ICU has been fully upgraded to a 16-bed state-of-the-art facility, providing round-the-clock intensive monitoring and specialized care.
Chief Minister Gupta stated that in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a global health hub, the Delhi government aims to ensure that the capital emerges as a center for advanced, accessible, and lifesaving healthcare services. She added that this inauguration reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening modern and patient-centric healthcare in Delhi.
Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh said the new facilities will significantly improve timely neuro and diagnostic treatments. The upgraded Neuro ICU and newly established Cath Lab will enable rapid treatment of stroke, brain tumors, and other complex neurological disorders. He reiterated that advanced technology and timely treatment remain the government’s top priorities to ensure better patient outcomes.
Key features of the new facilities include:
256-Slice Spectral CT Scanner: Installed at an approximate cost of ₹20 crore, this scanner features “always-on” spectral imaging technology, enabling highly accurate and rapid internal organ examinations. Radiation exposure is minimized, ensuring enhanced patient safety.
Neuro Cath Lab: Developed at a cost of ₹9 crore, this lab allows advanced treatment for stroke, brain tumors, aneurysms, and other neurovascular diseases. It is expected to benefit over 1,200 patients annually, enabling timely and advanced care.
Modern Neuro ICU: The 16-bed Neuro ICU, costing around ₹2 crore, is equipped with advanced patient monitoring systems, specialized operative facilities, and trained medical staff, providing comprehensive and safe care for critical and post-operative patients.
Through these initiatives, the Delhi government aims to ensure that every citizen of the capital has timely access to high-quality, lifesaving healthcare services.
