New Delhi, January 18, 2026
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday inaugurated development works worth nearly ₹100 crore in the R. K. Puram Assembly constituency. These projects aim to comprehensively upgrade local infrastructure and public amenities, bringing visible improvements to roads, community spaces, and green areas. The development package includes construction and repair of roads, renovation of old and dilapidated chaupals, modernisation of community centres, and beautification of parks across the constituency. To promote public health, open gym equipment will be installed in parks, while boundary walls will be constructed at locations where security and safety are required. These initiatives are expected to provide residents with improved connectivity, safer public spaces, modern community facilities, and a cleaner, healthier environment.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that when Surya Narayan changes direction, it marks the beginning of auspicious works. She stated that on this auspicious occasion, development projects worth ₹100 crore were launched in the R. K. Puram area. She noted that in the past, Members of Parliament and Members of the Legislative Assembly had access to very limited funds, due to which local development works often remained stalled for years. For the first time in Delhi, under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Delhi government has assured all public representatives that there will be no shortage of funds for development work.
The Chief Minister said that for several years, development activities in Delhi had come to a standstill. Areas such as R. K. Puram have a large number of slum clusters, where previous governments did not pay adequate attention to basic facilities. She emphasised that the present government is not committed to removing slums, but instead is determined to ensure a dignified life for residents living there. This includes providing permanent housing, toilets, bathing facilities, roads, drainage systems, parks, and playgrounds for children. She informed that immediately after assuming office, the government released a budget of approximately ₹700 crore to ensure development works worth ₹10 crore in each Assembly constituency. The objective, she said, is to provide modern facilities equally to the poor, the middle class, and the well-off sections of society.
Rekha Gupta further stated that the Delhi government has restarted pension schemes that had remained suspended for years. New ration cards are being issued, electricity connections are being provided to properties that were earlier deprived of power supply, and a dedicated Yamuna cleaning अभियान has been launched. She added that action is being taken to remove garbage mountains across the city, while electric buses are being introduced to reduce pollution and improve public transport. According to her, these steps reflect the government’s firm commitment to addressing long-standing civic issues in a systematic manner.
The Chief Minister assured citizens that the government is working with full dedication to transform Delhi into a developed, clean, green, and modern capital city. She said that the current government has completed only 11 months in office, yet visible changes are already evident across multiple sectors. She expressed confidence that in the coming years, the overall landscape of Delhi would be completely transformed, with improved infrastructure, better environmental standards, and enhanced quality of life for residents.
Thanking the people of the area, Rekha Gupta said that a new chapter of development in Delhi has been made possible only because of public support and blessings. She reiterated that the government remains firmly committed to fulfilling every promise made to the people. The event was attended by Member of Parliament Bansuri Swaraj, R. K. Puram MLA Anil Sharma, municipal councillor Dharmveer Singh, district president Ravindra Chaudhary, and several other distinguished citizens, reflecting strong public and political participation in the development initiative.
