Noida:
In connection with the death of engineer Yuvraj Mehta, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case has sought detailed clarifications from the Noida Authority on seven specific points. The authority has now prepared an extensive reply running into more than 60 pages, addressing each of the queries raised by the SIT. Officials said the response is ready and will be formally submitted, following which a detailed review of the explanations will be undertaken.
According to sources familiar with the developments, the SIT has already provided primary information related to the case to the Chief Minister. On the third consecutive day of deliberations, a meeting lasting nearly two-and-a-half hours was held to discuss various aspects of the investigation, including the authority’s role and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Seven-Point Clarification Sought by SIT
The SIT had earlier asked the Noida Authority to submit a point-wise response on seven key issues linked to the death of engineer Yuvraj Mehta. These queries reportedly pertain to administrative procedures, site conditions, safety measures, and the sequence of events leading up to the incident. Officials said the authority compiled records, documents, and internal notes to ensure that all questions were answered comprehensively.
The 60-page reply includes explanations supported by official correspondence, approvals, and procedural details. Senior officials indicated that the aim was to provide complete transparency and factual clarity to the SIT to aid the investigation.
Discussion on Disaster Report
Apart from the seven-point reply, the SIT also discussed the disaster report related to the incident. Sources said this report assesses the circumstances at the site and evaluates whether established safety norms and disaster management protocols were followed. The disaster report is expected to be submitted separately, with officials indicating that it may be handed over to the SIT shortly.
The SIT is expected to examine the disaster report alongside the authority’s written response to determine whether there were lapses at any level and if further action is required.
Extended Meeting on Third Day
The meeting held on the third day of the review process lasted around two-and-a-half hours, reflecting the seriousness with which the case is being handled. Officials from the Noida Authority and members of the SIT participated in the discussions, during which preliminary findings and available documentation were reviewed.
Sources said that the SIT briefed the Chief Minister on the primary facts of the case and the progress of the investigation so far. The focus of the briefing was on establishing an accurate timeline of events and identifying any potential administrative or procedural shortcomings.
Next Steps: Review and Verification
Once the 60-page response is formally submitted, the SIT will undertake a detailed review of the contents. This will include cross-verification of documents, site-related information, and procedural records provided by the authority. Officials indicated that the SIT may seek additional clarifications if any discrepancies or gaps are identified during the review process.
The SIT’s findings, along with conclusions drawn from the authority’s response and the disaster report, will form the basis for further action. This could include recommendations for administrative reforms, accountability measures, or legal proceedings, depending on the outcome of the investigation.
Focus on Accountability and Transparency
Officials reiterated that the objective of the SIT inquiry is to ensure accountability and establish the truth behind the incident. The preparation of a detailed, multi-page reply by the Noida Authority is being seen as a significant step in the process, aimed at providing a clear and documented account of its position.
While the investigation is still ongoing, authorities have assured that the case is being handled with due seriousness and that no aspect will be overlooked. Further updates are expected after the SIT completes its review of the submitted replies and associated reports.
