Noida, January 2026
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) have held high-level discussions to strengthen economic cooperation and encourage greater Japanese investment in the Yamuna Expressway region. The meeting was chaired by R.K. Singh, Chief Executive Officer of YEIDA, and Suzuki Takashi, Chief Director General of JETRO India, and focused on long-term collaboration, including the development of a proposed Japanese Industrial Park in the YEIDA region.
The interaction aimed at leveraging the strategic advantages of the Yamuna Expressway corridor to attract Japanese manufacturing companies, including large industrial players as well as small and medium enterprises. The discussions reflected a shared interest in expanding Japanese industrial presence in Uttar Pradesh, particularly in view of the region’s rapidly developing infrastructure and connectivity.
During the meeting, the YEIDA CEO provided a detailed overview of the region’s world-class connectivity. He highlighted that the Yamuna Expressway region is emerging as a major industrial hub due to its multi-modal transport network. A key highlight was the upcoming Noida International Airport, which is expected to be Asia’s largest airport and a major catalyst for industrial and economic growth. In addition, the region’s proximity to the Dedicated Freight Corridor under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor project was cited as a major logistical advantage for export-oriented manufacturing units.
Emphasising the state government’s focus on creating an investor-friendly ecosystem, the YEIDA leadership underlined the availability of high-quality infrastructure and competitive land rates for industrial development. The Uttar Pradesh government’s commitment to providing a Single Window Clearance system was also highlighted, aimed at ensuring ease of doing business and reducing procedural delays for foreign investors, including Japanese companies.
The discussions went beyond the proposed Japanese Industrial Park and covered sector-specific investment opportunities across multiple upcoming projects in the YEIDA region. These include the Medical Devices Park, Film City, Textile and Apparel Parks, and the Electronics Park. Officials noted that these sector-focused parks offer significant scope for collaboration with Japanese companies known for their technological expertise, precision manufacturing, and quality standards.
A key proposal that emerged during the meeting was the development of an exclusive Japanese MSME Park within the YEIDA area. The proposal was made in view of the fact that around 1,400 Japanese micro, small, and medium enterprises are currently registered with JETRO and are actively exploring manufacturing bases in India. An exclusive MSME park, it was suggested, could provide a dedicated ecosystem tailored to the needs of Japanese companies, including shared infrastructure, cluster-based development, and facilitation support.
Suzuki Takashi and members of the JETRO delegation expressed strong interest in the opportunities presented by the YEIDA region. They noted that the site is well-suited for industrial expansion due to its superior connectivity, upcoming airport infrastructure, and proximity to major markets. The delegation also pointed out that several Japanese companies already operating in India are looking for suitable locations to support their next phase of growth and expansion.
The meeting concluded on a positive and forward-looking note, with YEIDA formally inviting JETRO officials to visit the industrial sites in the Yamuna Expressway region, as well as the Noida International Airport. Both sides also proposed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to institutionalise the engagement and lay the foundation for a long-term partnership between the Uttar Pradesh government and Japanese investors.
Senior officials present at the meeting included Shailendra Kumar Bhatia, Additional CEO of YEIDA, and Praveen Kumar Mittal, Executive Director of the Export Promotion Council, along with officials from EY. The discussions marked an important step towards deepening India–Japan industrial cooperation and positioning the Yamuna Expressway region as a preferred destination for Japanese manufacturing and investment.
