New Delhi, September 9 : The Crime Branch (CID) of Andhra Pradesh arrested former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party leader Chandrababu Naidu on charges of conspiracy and economic offences this morning. The arrest was made at RK Function Hall, Gangapuram, Nandyal, where he was resting for the night. Earlier, it was reported that he was arrested at his residence. The notice issued by the Economic Offences Wing states that Chandrababu Naidu has been booked under IPC sections 120B and 420, as well as being arrested under other sections, including the Prevention of Corruption Act. These sections are non-bailable, so he will have to take bail from the court itself.

After the arrest, Chandrababu Naidu has been taken for medical examination. Chandrababu Naidu’s lawyer says that Chandrababu is a patient with high blood pressure and diabetes. They will apply for his release as soon as the High Court opens.
Earlier, some supporters present there at the time of the arrest expressed their anger. Along with the arrest of Chandrababu, some leaders of the Telugu Desam Party have been put under house arrest.
