The district administration has announced the continuation of the Uttar Pradesh government’s “Shaadi Anudan Yojana” (Marriage Grant Scheme) for daughters of economically weaker families belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC), excluding minority OBCs. The scheme provides financial assistance of ₹20,000 to eligible families to support the marriage expenses of their daughters.
District OBC Welfare Officer Lavesh Kumar Sisodia explained that eligible applicants can submit their applications online through the official portal http://shadianudan.upsdc.gov.in
starting 90 days before the wedding date and up to 90 days after. The scheme is intended for OBC families with an annual household income not exceeding ₹1,00,000 in both rural and urban areas.
Eligibility criteria include the daughter being at least 18 years old at the time of marriage, while the groom must be at least 21 years old. Beneficiaries of old-age, disability, or widow pensions are exempted from submitting income certificates; they only need to provide their registration number. All applicants must have a bank account in a nationalized bank, as accounts in District Cooperative Banks are not accepted on the PFMS portal.
Applicants are required to attach several documents while applying, including a valid ID, bank passbook, wedding invitation card, proof of the daughter’s age, Aadhaar card, and the applicant’s photograph. The district administration encourages eligible families to ensure that all documentation is complete to avoid delays in grant disbursement.
Sisodia highlighted that the scheme is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to support economically disadvantaged families and promote social welfare. “The Marriage Grant Scheme helps families manage wedding expenses while ensuring that daughters from OBC households are not financially burdened,” he said.
For further information and assistance, applicants can visit the office of the District OBC Welfare Officer at Room No. 111, Vikas Bhawan, Surajpur, Greater Noida, on any working day.
The scheme underlines the government’s commitment to social equity by providing financial support for education, healthcare, and marriage-related expenses for families in need. By enabling eligible OBC families to access these funds, the initiative aims to reduce economic pressure and encourage timely marriage of daughters in compliance with legal age norms.
The Shaadi Anudan Yojana continues to be a vital component of the state’s broader social welfare programs, ensuring that economically weaker families receive targeted support while reinforcing transparency through the online application process.
Eligible families are urged to apply promptly and ensure all required documents are attached to facilitate timely processing and grant disbursement. The district administration emphasized that the scheme is designed to empower families and improve access to government assistance, contributing to social stability and welfare in Gautam Buddh Nagar.
This initiative reflects the Uttar Pradesh government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen social safety nets for marginalized communities, particularly focusing on supporting daughters from underprivileged OBC families in accessing financial aid for marriage.
