New Delhi, 23 February 2026

Delhi Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra addressed a public gathering on the occasion of the Delhi Government completing one year, underscoring what he described as a significant transformation in governance, public engagement, and development priorities under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

Speaking at the event, Mishra characterized the past year as the beginning of a broader phase of change in the national capital. He stated that Delhi had witnessed a visible shift in political culture, administrative accessibility, and citizen-centric governance.

“Delhi had to wait for 27 years to witness a moment where the Chief Minister stands on a public stage while slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ resonate from the gathering,” Mishra said. “This reflects the power of the people’s mandate and the strength of democratic choice.”

Mishra remarked that the current administration symbolized the fulfillment of public expectations regarding accessibility and responsiveness. According to him, the government has sought to maintain a direct connection with citizens by ensuring that governance remains approachable and accountable.

“Today, Delhi has realized its aspiration of having a Chief Minister whose home and office remain open to the public around the clock,” Mishra stated. “This openness reflects a governance model rooted in public service and transparency.”

The Cabinet Minister also referred to earlier periods of governance, contrasting them with the present administration’s policies and approach. He recalled instances where citizens, according to him, faced challenges in exercising cultural and religious practices.

“We have seen times when people faced legal cases for visiting the banks of the Yamuna for Chhath Puja,” Mishra said. “Today, we are witnessing a period where commitments made to the people are being fulfilled.”

Highlighting the government’s initiatives over the past 365 days, Mishra emphasized the administration’s focus on development, welfare measures, and infrastructure improvements. He said the government has actively worked to deliver on promises across multiple sectors.

“Today, the government is among the people,” Mishra said. “Whether it is the expansion of Aarogya Mandirs, the introduction of Atal Canteens, the deployment of electric buses, improvements in road infrastructure, or the promotion of Delhi’s art and culture, the administration has taken concrete steps.”

He further noted that the government has supported and facilitated large-scale public and cultural events, describing these efforts as part of a broader commitment to preserving and celebrating societal traditions.

“The government has extended support for initiatives such as Kanwar Seva, Chhath Puja, and grand Diwali celebrations,” Mishra added. “These are not merely events but reflections of cultural identity and social cohesion.”

Mishra stated that the pace of governance and implementation has been a defining feature of the administration’s first year. He claimed that more than 365 initiatives or actions had been completed within the same number of days.

“In 365 days, more than 365 works have been accomplished under the leadership of the Chief Minister,” Mishra said. “This demonstrates the government’s commitment to efficiency and delivery.”

While outlining these achievements, Mishra stressed that the government views the past year as a foundational phase rather than a culmination. He described the current period as the beginning of a long-term developmental trajectory.

“This is only the beginning,” he said. “The government remains committed to advancing the vision of a ‘Viksit Delhi’ in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission of ‘Viksit Bharat.’”

Mishra asserted that Delhi is entering what he termed a “phase of transformation,” driven by governance reforms, infrastructure expansion, and citizen-focused policies.

“The era of change has begun in Delhi,” Mishra concluded. “The administration will continue to move forward with sustained efforts toward development, transparency, and public welfare.”

The remarks formed part of a broader programme marking the Delhi Government’s one-year anniversary, during which leaders highlighted policy outcomes, governance reforms, and future priorities. The event witnessed participation from senior political leaders, public representatives, and citizens.

Government officials stated that the anniversary programme aimed to present a review of the administration’s first year while reinforcing commitments related to governance efficiency, infrastructure development, digital integration, and inclusive welfare measures.

The one-year milestone has been framed by the government as a period focused on institutional restructuring, administrative streamlining, and the initiation of long-term development initiatives intended to shape Delhi’s governance and urban framework in the coming years.
