The Greater Noida Congress Committee held a public awareness meeting at Hajipur village, Sector 104, Noida, on Wednesday to protest what they described as the Modi government’s dilution of the “labor and employment-friendly” provisions of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
The meeting was presided over by Master Rajveer Singh Avana and aimed at informing the local population about the Congress party’s concerns regarding changes in the MGNREGA framework. Party leaders claimed that these modifications undermine labor rights and jeopardize employment security for rural workers.
The event saw the participation of key political figures, including Greater Noida Congress Committee President Mukesh Yadav, Gautam Buddh Nagar Coordinator of the “Save MGNREGA Movement” Advocate Dinesh Avana, former President Shahbuddin, NSUI District President Gautam Buddh Nagar Rajkumar Monu, Greater Noida OBC President Sonu Pradhan, KKCC Noida President Yogendra Bhati Ladpura, Youth Congress Gautam Buddh Nagar General Secretary Pandit Shyamsundar Dixit, Youth Congress Gautam Buddh Nagar District Vice President Gorav Adhan, along with Rajveer Singh Avana, Yashpal Avana, Parmveer, Virendra, Narendra, Harish, Shyam Babu, Hanif, Sikandar, Asif, Sonu, Vivek, Gyanendra, Aqil, Ahmed, Noman, Nafees, Sonu, Pramod, Anand, Mohan Tiwari, Mahesh Chandra, and several other local members.

During the meeting, leaders discussed the perceived erosion of employment guarantees under MGNREGA, emphasizing the importance of protecting labor rights and ensuring that rural workers receive the benefits intended under the scheme. They urged local citizens to remain vigilant and participate actively in safeguarding employment provisions that support livelihoods in rural areas.
The gathering also served as a platform to mobilize public opinion and increase awareness about the government’s policies affecting laborers, while reinforcing the Congress party’s commitment to rural employment and social justice.
Party members highlighted that MGNREGA, since its inception, has been a crucial source of guaranteed employment and economic stability for rural households. They expressed concerns that weakening its provisions could disproportionately affect marginalized communities who rely on the scheme for income and sustenance.
The Greater Noida Congress Committee concluded the meeting with a call for continued public engagement, stressing that citizens must be informed and proactive to ensure accountability in the implementation of national employment programs. The leaders reiterated their support for rural laborers and pledged to continue monitoring policy changes closely.
This awareness initiative reflects the party’s ongoing efforts to highlight challenges facing rural employment schemes and advocate for the protection of labor rights across the district.
