Delhi Government’s Minister for Industries, Food & Supplies and Environment, Shri Manjinder Singh Sirsa, today stated that Union Budget 2026–27 is visionary, inclusive, and people-centric, accelerating Delhi’s development while empowering every section of society. Addressing a press conference, he expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman.
“The Union Budget will bring prosperity into the lives of Delhi’s citizens. It strengthens farmers, workers, women, youth, senior citizens, entrepreneurs and traders alike,” Shri Sirsa said, adding that the budget advances the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 with direct benefits for Delhi.
Highlighting farmer welfare, he noted that the budget places strong emphasis on doubling farmers’ income through technology, market integration, and institutional support. A provision of ₹100 crore has been made to connect women-led Farmer Producer Organisations with markets. The Bharat-Extension AI platform will provide farmers with real-time, need-based advisory services.
On women empowerment, Shri Sirsa said allocations for women-focused schemes have increased by 11 percent, with nearly ₹5 lakh crore earmarked. Under Lakhpati Didi 2.0, women associated with Self-Help Groups will receive collateral-free loans up to ₹5 lakh to start businesses. ‘She-Marts’ will be established to promote women-led products.
The budget also prioritizes education, skills, and employment, with 300 new skill centres and 19 training institutions proposed. Education spending has been increased to ₹1.39 lakh crore. Five university townships and AVGC creator labs in 15,000 schools and 500 colleges will equip nearly two million youth with employable skills.
On environment and clean mobility, Shri Sirsa reiterated, “Our goal is a pollution-free Delhi.” An allocation of ₹5,000 crore for the EV sector will accelerate clean transport adoption, significantly reducing pollution. The Delhi–Varanasi high-speed rail corridor has also been announced among seven new corridors.
For MSMEs, startups and industry, the budget includes a ₹10,000 crore SME Growth Fund, Startup India Fund, plug-and-play industrial parks, and a ₹2,300 crore export promotion mission. Biopharma initiatives will further strengthen the pharmaceutical sector.
He informed that ₹13,611 crore has been allocated for Delhi under centrally sponsored schemes, ₹12,500 crore for Delhi Police, and ₹10,000 crore for major central hospitals in Delhi including AIIMS and Safdarjung.
Welfare schemes such as PM Garib Kalyan Yojana, PM-Kisan, National Health Mission, PM Awas Yojana, and employment guarantee programmes have also received substantial allocations.
Shri Sirsa stated that increasing Delhi’s borrowing limit to ₹21,000 crore will significantly boost infrastructure and public welfare projects. He further announced that under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Government has decided to provide free LPG cylinders to nearly 17 lakh eligible families during Holi and Diwali through DBT.
