Concern Over Illegal Products in Market
According to official information, certain mosquito repellent incense sticks are being manufactured and sold using unregistered insecticides such as dimefluthrin and meperfluthrin.
These products are reportedly being marketed under brand names like Sleepwell and Comfort, along with other unidentified brands.
Violation of Legal Provisions
The use of such unregistered chemicals is a direct violation of the Insecticides Act, 1968 and Insecticides Rules, 1971, particularly under Section 9(3).
Authorities stated that these products lack proper regulatory approval and do not meet prescribed safety standards.
Health Risks Highlighted
Officials warned that such unregulated mosquito repellents can pose serious health risks to consumers due to the absence of quality control and safety certification.
