In a significant move towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring balanced regional development, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday unveiled the statue of Keshav Baliram Hedgewar at the Dr Hedgewar Arogya Sansthan in Shahdara. Addressing the gathering, she said the statue symbolises service, dedication and the enduring spirit of ‘Nation First’.

The Chief Minister said the vision initiated by Dr Hedgewar has evolved into a powerful movement rooted in character building and social organisation. The statue, she noted, would inspire doctors and healthcare workers to serve society with renewed commitment and integrity.
The event was attended by public representatives, medical professionals, paramedical staff and residents from across East Delhi, reflecting wide public participation.
Expansion of Arogya Sansthan
Acknowledging the growing healthcare needs of the region, the Chief Minister announced the expansion of the hospital. A new floor will be constructed and advanced medical equipment installed. Departments have been directed to prepare a detailed report and begin work at the earliest. Strengthening healthcare services for the densely populated Yamunapar region, she said, remains a top priority.
Healthcare Achievements in One Year
Highlighting achievements over the past year, the Chief Minister said health coverage under the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Delhi has been increased to ₹10 lakh. A special scheme for citizens above 70 years has been introduced, benefiting lakhs of residents.
She added that 370 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are operational across Delhi, with a target of 1,100 centres. These facilities have brought primary healthcare closer to communities and reduced the burden on major hospitals.
Digital Transformation and Infrastructure Strengthening
All Delhi government hospitals have been fully digitised, enabling digital health records, online appointments and easy access to treatment histories. This transformation has enhanced transparency, efficiency and accountability. Advanced diagnostic and critical care facilities have also been established in major hospitals to address long-standing gaps in infrastructure.

₹700 Crore Boost for Yamunapar Development
The Chief Minister announced the revival of the Yamunapar Development Board with a special allocation of ₹700 crore. The fund is being utilised to accelerate road construction, drainage improvement and other infrastructure projects. She reaffirmed that development across Delhi would be equal, regardless of location.
Vision for Healthcare
Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh said the unveiling of the statue marks a moment of inspiration for the healthcare community. Guided by Dr Hedgewar’s ideals, the government is committed to elevating healthcare standards. He noted that millions have benefited from expanded services, including dialysis, TB screening and primary care facilities.
He added that Dr Hedgewar Arogya Sansthan now offers modern 200-bed healthcare services and will continue to serve as a strong pillar of service, dedication and nation-building for East Delhi and adjoining areas.
