Gautam Buddh Nagar, April 24, 2026:
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has outlined its long-term development vision and achievements, highlighting its transformation into a major industrial and infrastructure hub in Uttar Pradesh over the past two decades.
Established in 2001 under the Uttar Pradesh Industrial Area Development Act, the authority was initially formed as Taj Expressway Industrial Development Authority and later renamed YEIDA in 2008. The notified area of the authority currently spans across six districts, including Gautam Buddh Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, and Agra, covering over 1,100 villages and a large geographical area along the Yamuna Expressway.
As part of its long-term planning, YEIDA has prepared a Master Plan 2041, which has been approved by the state government. The plan aims to position the region as a high-quality infrastructure zone with seamless connectivity and a favorable investment destination. The notified urbanisable area under Phase-1 of the plan is spread across approximately 769 square kilometers, with a projected population of around 3.7 million.
The master plan focuses on balanced land use, including residential, industrial, commercial, institutional, and green zones. Significant land has been earmarked for industrial and mixed-use development to boost economic activities, while green belts, parks, and recreational areas are also being developed to maintain environmental balance.
YEIDA is also working on multiple urban centers and expansion plans, including development in regions such as Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, and Agra under Phase-2. Dedicated urban hubs and heritage city plans are being developed to promote tourism, economic activity, and regional growth.
Connectivity remains a key strength of the region, with the Yamuna Expressway linking Greater Noida to Agra over a stretch of 165 km. The expressway is integrated with major corridors such as the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and is also connected to other national expressways, enhancing regional mobility.
A major milestone for the region has been the development of Noida International Airport in Jewar, which was inaugurated in March 2026. The airport is being developed in phases and is expected to significantly boost connectivity, trade, and investment in the region. The first phase includes one runway and terminal, with plans for expansion in subsequent phases.
YEIDA has also focused heavily on industrial development through cluster-based planning. Several industrial parks have been established, including apparel parks, MSME parks, toy parks, handicraft parks, medical device parks, and electronic manufacturing clusters. These initiatives are expected to attract investments worth approximately ₹50,000 crore and generate employment for around four lakh people.
In the electronics sector, an Electronic Manufacturing Cluster is being developed in Sector 10, while a semiconductor project involving major industry players is also being set up in Sector 28. These projects are expected to position the region as a key manufacturing hub in India.
Additionally, the authority is developing an International Film City in Sector 21, which is expected to boost media and entertainment infrastructure while creating employment opportunities. Plans are also underway for a Fintech Park in Sector 11 to support financial technology innovation.
Infrastructure development is being supported by continuous improvements in power supply, with multiple substations already operational and new ones under construction. The authority has also initiated smart village projects, educational infrastructure upgrades, and skill development centers to ensure inclusive growth.
Urbanisation efforts include the development of residential plots, group housing, commercial spaces, and institutional areas. Thousands of housing units and plots have already been allocated, contributing to the region’s rapid urban expansion.
Officials stated that the presence of major projects such as the semiconductor unit, electronics clusters, industrial parks, and the international airport has created a strong ecosystem for investment. The authority believes that the region will continue to witness rapid growth in industrialization, employment generation, and infrastructure development in the coming years.
YEIDA emphasized that its long-term vision focuses on sustainable development, improved connectivity, and creating a balanced urban ecosystem. The authority aims to strengthen its position as a leading industrial and investment destination in North India while ensuring planned growth and improved quality of life for residents.
