Noida:
The election results for the Federation of Noida Residents’ Welfare Associations (Phonrwa) for the 2026–28 term were formally declared on Sunday in the presence of all election officials, under the leadership of Election Officer Colonel (Retd) Shashi Ved. In a rare development, all candidates of the Yogendra Sharma–K.K. Jain panel were declared elected unopposed, marking a significant moment in the organisation’s electoral history.
Announcing the results, General Secretary K.K. Jain said that for the first time in Phonrwa’s 25-year history, a complete team of 21 members was elected unopposed through the formal election process. He described the outcome as a reflection of the work carried out by the executive committee over the past two years under the leadership of President Yogendra Sharma. According to Jain, the scale and impact of the team’s work during the previous term discouraged any opposition from contesting the elections.
President Yogendra Sharma and General Secretary K.K. Jain were elected to their respective posts for the fourth consecutive term. Speaking on the occasion, they said that this continued mandate was made possible due to the collective efforts of an experienced team, consistent support from RWA members, and constructive cooperation from the Noida Authority, district administration, Noida Police, UPCL, and other concerned departments.
During the outgoing two-year tenure, the Phonrwa executive focused on resolving long-pending issues faced by RWAs and residents across Noida. Regular meetings were held with the Chief Executive Officer, Additional Chief Executive Officers, and senior officials of the Noida Authority to address civic and infrastructure-related concerns. These interactions helped streamline communication between resident bodies and the administration, leading to faster redressal of grievances.
One of the key areas of focus was improving the quality and availability of water supply in the city. Phonrwa consistently pursued the matter with the Noida Authority, resulting in significant improvements. As part of these efforts, eight rainwells were made fully operational and are currently supplying water to residents. Action has also been initiated to revive and activate all non-functional tubewells across the city to further strengthen water availability.
The organisation also addressed issues related to unauthorised construction in authority-developed flats and buildings. More than 1,000 notices were issued under Section 10 to residents involved in unauthorised constructions. Phonrwa has been actively working towards the formation of a dedicated committee to review such cases and regularise permissible constructions through appropriate penalties. The removal of the Section 10 condition in mutation and loan-related cases has provided substantial relief to affected residents.
In the area of sanitation and sewerage, old and damaged sewer lines were identified, and directions were issued for their cleaning and replacement. To expedite tree pruning and cutting work across sectors, instructions were given for the purchase of 10 new machines, aimed at improving efficiency and reducing delays in maintenance work.
To ensure faster resolution of RWA-related issues, Phonrwa facilitated regular meetings between various departments of the Noida Authority and RWAs. These meetings helped accelerate the execution of pending works and improved coordination between residents and officials.
Significant engagement also took place with the power department. Regular meetings were held with Power Minister A.K. Sharma, the Managing Director of UPCL, senior officials, and chief engineers. As a result, electricity supply in Noida has seen marked improvement. Several major projects have been initiated to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the summer months.
Addressing the issue of stray animals, the daily dog sterilisation capacity in Noida was increased from 25 to 50. Additionally, a proposal has been put forward to establish two new centres in Sector 123, with a combined capacity of 1,000 dogs. These centres are planned to include dispensaries, food storage facilities, and staff quarters.
On the law and order front, multiple high-level meetings were held with the Police Commissioner, ACPs, and DCPs. These efforts led to the regularisation of police–RWA meetings across all sectors. According to Phonrwa, this coordination has resulted in improved law and order, better crime prevention, increased awareness about cyber fraud, and a noticeable reduction in petty crimes.
Speaking after the declaration of results, President Yogendra Sharma and General Secretary K.K. Jain said that the new team remains fully committed to resolving RWA and civic issues, promoting community welfare, and ensuring a better quality of life for all residents of Noida. They expressed confidence that the newly elected executive would successfully achieve all its objectives during the 2026–28 term.
