The Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat has announced that the second part of the Fourth Session (Budget Session) of the Eighth Legislative Assembly will commence on March 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM. The session will be held in the Assembly Hall at the Old Secretariat, Delhi.
Media organizations have been invited to attend the proceedings or nominate their representatives, including photographers and television crews, for comprehensive coverage of the session. The Secretariat has also issued detailed guidelines to facilitate smooth media access and ensure orderly coverage.
Media Entry and Accreditation Process
All media personnel from print and electronic platforms will be allowed entry into the Vidhan Sabha complex upon presentation of valid press accreditation cards issued by PIB or DIP. Media professionals who do not possess PIB or DIP accreditation, including those operating OB vans, will be required to obtain temporary passes through arrangements made by the Press Section of DIP.
Journalists without official accreditation must submit a recommendation letter from their Editor, Bureau Chief, or City Editor. This letter must be accompanied by a copy of their press ID card and a valid government-issued photo ID such as Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving License. These documents must be submitted at the DIP office to gain access to the Assembly premises.
Guidelines for Media Interaction and Coverage
Media personnel have been advised to refrain from approaching or interacting with Ministers and Members of the Legislative Assembly within the corridors of the Assembly building. However, they are permitted to engage with public representatives in designated open areas outside the Assembly building within the complex.
This guideline aims to maintain decorum and ensure smooth functioning of legislative proceedings while still allowing media interaction in appropriate spaces.
OB Van Access and Mandatory Compliance
For OB van access, media organizations must submit a recommendation letter from their Editor or Bureau Chief along with the vehicle’s Registration Certificate, press ID, and a valid government-issued identification document. All required documents must be submitted at the DIP Office (Press Section).
The Secretariat has emphasized that submission of all required documents is mandatory. Entry and media facilitation will not be granted in the absence of proper credentials. The instructions are aimed at ensuring a streamlined and secure environment during the session.
The communication has been addressed to key media stakeholders, including metro editors, chief reporters, photo editors, news agencies, All India Radio, Doordarshan, and other electronic media organizations.
