The facility near Sector 4/5 will supply purified and chilled drinking water using advanced filtration systems to residents free of cost.
31 March 2026, Noida.
In a significant step towards ensuring access to clean drinking water for residents, a newly constructed Water ATM has been inaugurated in village Harola near Sector 4/5 in Noida. The initiative has been implemented by the Water Department with financial support under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding provided by HDFC Bank.
The Water ATM was inaugurated by Member of Parliament Mahesh Sharma and MLA Pankaj Singh in the presence of representatives from HDFC Bank, along with officials including the Special Duty Officer and the General Manager (Water).
Free Access to Clean Drinking Water
The newly installed Water ATM has been designed to provide clean and chilled drinking water to the general public free of cost. The initiative is aimed at addressing the growing demand for safe drinking water in densely populated areas such as Harola village and nearby sectors. Residents can now access potable water conveniently without incurring any expense, making it particularly beneficial for economically weaker sections.
The facility is expected to serve a large number of daily users, ensuring that safe drinking water is available within easy reach. The initiative reflects the authority’s focus on improving basic civic amenities and promoting public health through reliable water infrastructure.
Advanced Purification Technology
The Water ATM is equipped with a capacity of 1,200 litres per hour, ensuring continuous and efficient supply. To maintain high water quality standards, the system incorporates multiple stages of filtration and purification. These include Ultra Violet (UV) treatment, ozonation, sand filtration, carbon filtration, 5–10 micron filtration, and pebble filtration.
In addition, the system is equipped with Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology to remove hardness, fluoride, chlorides, and other impurities from the water. This multi-layered purification process ensures that the water dispensed is safe, clean, and suitable for consumption.
Automated and User-Friendly Distribution System
The Water ATM operates through an automatic card-operated water vending system, allowing users to collect water in a structured and efficient manner. The machine is designed to dispense up to 20 litres of water per card, while an additional vending unit is available for dispensing 1 litre per card for those requiring smaller quantities.
This automated system ensures transparency, ease of use, and minimal waiting time for users. It also helps in managing distribution efficiently, especially during peak hours.
Operational Timings and Accessibility
The Water Department has scheduled the operation of the Water ATM in two daily shifts to maximize accessibility for residents. The facility will be available from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the morning and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the evening.
These timings have been planned to accommodate the daily routines of residents, ensuring that water can be accessed conveniently during peak usage hours.
Expansion of Water ATM Network
Officials informed that this facility is part of a broader initiative to strengthen drinking water infrastructure in Noida. So far, nine Water ATMs have been installed across the city using CSR funds and have been dedicated to public use.
The success of these installations highlights the importance of public-private partnerships in addressing urban infrastructure challenges and improving the quality of life for residents.
Conclusion
The inauguration of the Water ATM in Harola village marks another step towards ensuring equitable access to safe drinking water in Noida. By combining advanced purification technology with free public access, the initiative addresses a critical civic need while promoting health and hygiene.
With continued efforts by the Water Department and support from organizations like HDFC Bank, such projects are expected to play a key role in strengthening urban infrastructure and ensuring sustainable access to essential services for all citizens.
