Noida Authority imposed a ₹2 lakh penalty on a cloud kitchen after detecting serious violations of environmental and waste management regulations during an inspection drive.
In a strict enforcement drive, the Noida Authority took action against M/s KIC Food Product Pvt. Ltd., a cloud kitchen located in Sector-8, for multiple violations of bulk waste generator norms. The inspection conducted on April 24, 2026, revealed significant lapses in environmental compliance, prompting officials to impose a penalty of ₹2 lakh. The action was carried out under the directives of the authority, led by the public health and solid waste management teams.
Major Violations Detected During Inspection
The inspection uncovered several critical shortcomings in the facility’s operations. The Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), essential for treating wastewater, was found to be non-functional. Additionally, systems such as the oil and grease trap and tube settler were also not operational, raising concerns over improper waste discharge.
The absence of a flow meter further indicated a lack of monitoring of water usage and waste output. Sludge management practices were not aligned with prescribed standards, increasing the risk of environmental contamination. Officials also noted the absence of a logbook, which is crucial for maintaining operational records and compliance tracking.
Failure in Solid Waste Management Compliance
The cloud kitchen was also found violating solid waste management rules. Waste segregation and proper storage protocols were not being followed. Despite being categorized as a bulk waste generator, the unit had not installed an On-site Composting (OWC) plant, which is mandatory for handling large volumes of organic waste. This highlighted a clear disregard for established environmental guidelines.
Action Against Single-Use Plastic Usage
Despite a complete ban on single-use plastic in Noida, the facility was found using it in large quantities. During the inspection, officials seized approximately 30 kilograms of plastic. This violation not only breaches regulations but also contributes significantly to environmental degradation. The seizure reinforces the authority’s zero-tolerance stance on plastic usage violations.
Penalty and Strict Warning Issued
Considering the extent of violations, a penalty of ₹2 lakh was imposed on the unit. Authorities also issued strict instructions to ensure full compliance with bulk waste management rules. Failure to adhere to these norms in the future may result in more stringent punitive action. This move serves as a warning to other establishments operating in the region.
Inspection Conducted at Radisson Hotel
Following the action, officials also inspected the Radisson Hotel in Sector-55 to review its OWC machine and ETP plant. The objective was to ensure that large commercial establishments are adhering to environmental norms.
Officials from the environment cell, along with representatives from Guided Fortune Samiti and other members, were present during the inspection. The collaborative effort reflects a broader commitment by authorities and organizations to strengthen environmental compliance and sustainable practices across Noida.
