Gautam Buddh Nagar: The Labour Department has issued a clarification rejecting false and misleading information being circulated on social media in connection with recent industrial unrest in the district. Officials stated that certain videos related to counselling sessions conducted with different groups after the incident on April 13, 2026, have been edited and shared out of context, creating confusion among the public.
Additional Labour Commissioner Rakesh Dwivedi stated that these videos have been deliberately altered and circulated with the intent to mislead. He described the content as false, objectionable, and not reflective of the actual situation. The department has urged people not to rely on such manipulated content and instead verify facts through official channels.
Clarification on Minimum Wage Structure
The department also addressed misinformation related to minimum wages being circulated online. As per the Government Order No. 374/36-2-2026-2041256 dated April 17, 2026, the revised minimum monthly wages for 74 notified employments in Gautam Buddh Nagar have been clearly defined.
According to the official notification, the monthly wages are as follows:
Unskilled workers: ₹13,690
Semi-skilled workers: ₹15,059
Skilled workers: ₹16,868
Officials emphasized that any claims suggesting higher or different wage amounts beyond these notified figures are entirely false and misleading. The department reiterated that these are the only officially approved wage rates applicable to the notified sectors.
False Claims on Overtime Payments
Another rumour addressed by the Labour Department pertains to alleged pressure on employers to clear overtime dues for the past two years. According to Dwivedi, such claims being circulated by certain organizations are baseless and do not reflect any current action by the department.
He clarified that no such directive or enforcement drive regarding retrospective overtime payments is underway. The department has not issued any instructions to employers in this regard, and the information being spread is contrary to facts.
Appeal to Public and Stakeholders
The Labour Department has appealed to industrialists, workers, and the general public to remain cautious and avoid believing or sharing unverified information. Officials stressed the importance of relying only on authentic updates issued by government authorities.
The statement highlighted that spreading misinformation can lead to unnecessary panic and disrupt industrial harmony. All stakeholders have been advised to act responsibly and ensure that communication is based on verified and credible sources.
Maintaining Industrial Stability
The clarification comes in the backdrop of recent industrial unrest in the district, where efforts have been made by authorities to maintain peace and resolve issues through dialogue. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring a balanced approach that safeguards the interests of both workers and employers.
Authorities have also indicated that appropriate steps will be taken if misinformation continues to be spread, particularly if it affects law and order or industrial relations. Ensuring transparency and factual communication remains a priority for the administration.
Residents and stakeholders have been urged to stay informed through official announcements and avoid engaging with misleading or manipulated content circulating on social media platforms
