  • Annu Kapoor says remark on Tamannaah was misunderstood
  • Actor offers apology if Tamannaah felt offended

The controversy began after Kapoor’s remark describing Tamannaah’s appearance in a song triggered criticism online. Addressing the issue, he said the statement had been misunderstood and emphasized that he holds no ill intent, adding that at his age, he views her “like a daughter.”

Clarification and Reaction to Backlash

In a recent interaction with Siddharth Kannan, Annu Kapoor responded to the criticism surrounding his use of the phrase “milky body.” He argued that the reaction stemmed from how the phrase was perceived in Hindi compared to English usage.

He said that while the phrase “doodhiya badan” caused outrage, its English equivalent did not attract the same criticism. Kapoor expressed disappointment over the language-based interpretation and said the backlash included personal attacks, with some social media users using harsh language against him.

Kapoor reiterated that his intent was to praise Tamannaah Bhatia’s screen presence and performance. He stressed that there was no inappropriate meaning behind his words and that his comment should be viewed in the context of admiration rather than objectification.

Statement on Tamannaah and Apology

Addressing Tamannaah directly, Kapoor stated that he considers her to be of his daughter’s age and respects her accordingly. He added that if she personally felt offended, he would be willing to apologise without hesitation.

He said that he stands by his intention but is open to expressing regret if his words caused discomfort. The actor also remarked that he is confident about his own intent and believes it has been misinterpreted in public discourse.

Tamannaah Bhatia has not publicly responded to the clarification at the time of writing.

Background of the Controversy

The issue traces back to a podcast appearance where Annu Kapoor commented on Tamannaah’s appearance in the song Aaj Ki Raat from the film Stree 2. The song had gained significant popularity, with Tamannaah’s dance performance receiving widespread attention.

Kapoor’s use of the phrase “milky white body” during the discussion was later circulated on social media, leading to criticism. Several users described the remark as inappropriate and labelled it sexist, sparking debate over language, intent, and boundaries in public commentary.

The controversy highlights the sensitivity around public statements made by celebrities and how language nuances can influence interpretation. It also reflects ongoing discussions about how compliments are framed in media conversations, especially when referring to appearance.
