In compliance with the directions of the Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority and District Judge of Gautam Buddh Nagar Atul Srivastava, a National Lok Adalat will be organized in the district on March 14, 2026. The Lok Adalat will be held at the district headquarters as well as at the tehsil level to ensure wider participation and accessibility for citizens.
Somprabha Mishra, Additional District Judge II, Special Judge SC ST Act and Nodal Officer for National Lok Adalat in Gautam Buddh Nagar, informed that the primary objective of the National Lok Adalat is to facilitate quick and amicable settlement of pending cases through mutual agreement between the parties.
She stated that the Lok Adalat will primarily deal with compoundable criminal cases, family disputes, and cases related to the Motor Vehicles Accident Act. Disputes related to electricity and water services will also be taken up for settlement during the Lok Adalat.
Additionally, cases under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, which generally involve cheque bounce disputes, will also be considered. Such cases are often suitable for resolution through mutual settlement between the parties.
The National Lok Adalat will also address land revenue disputes and service-related matters. Pre-litigation cases will also be included, which involve disputes that have not yet been formally filed in court but can be resolved through mediation and agreement between the parties.
Officials explained that any dispute that can be resolved through compromise and where both parties are willing to reach an agreement can be taken up during the Lok Adalat. This process also helps in reducing the burden of pending cases in courts.
The National Lok Adalat aims to provide accessible and speedy justice to citizens. It offers a simplified dispute resolution mechanism where cases are settled quickly without lengthy legal procedures.
Authorities have urged citizens to take advantage of this opportunity by presenting their disputes before the National Lok Adalat and resolving them through mutual consent. This not only saves time and resources but also promotes harmony between the parties involved.
