Gautam Buddh Nagar, March 20, 2026:
A mass wedding ceremony will be organized in Gautam Buddh Nagar on March 25, 2026 under the Chief Minister’s Mass Marriage Scheme, with the Uttar Pradesh government revising the income eligibility limit and increasing the financial assistance provided under the program.
The information was shared by the District Social Welfare Officer, Gautam Buddh Nagar, who said that fresh directions have been issued by the government to conduct marriage events under the scheme after enhancing both the prescribed income ceiling for eligibility and the amount to be spent per couple.
Under the revised government order, a total expenditure of ₹1 lakh per couple has now been provisioned under the scheme. Out of this amount, ₹60,000 will be transferred directly into the bride’s bank account, marriage gift items worth ₹25,000 will be provided to the couple, and ₹15,000 will be spent on organizing the wedding ceremony.
Officials said the scheme is intended to support poor, needy and destitute families by reducing the financial burden of marriage and ensuring dignified social support for eligible beneficiaries.
According to the eligibility conditions, the bride’s parents or guardians must be original residents of Uttar Pradesh. The family applying under the scheme must belong to the category of destitute, poor, and needy households. The maximum annual family income for eligibility has now been fixed at ₹3 lakh.
The government has also specified age-related conditions for marriage under the scheme. On the date of marriage, the bride must be at least 18 years old and the groom must have completed 21 years of age. To verify age, applicants may submit educational records, birth certificates, voter identity cards, MGNREGA job cards, or Aadhaar cards.
Officials clarified that the scheme is not limited only to unmarried girls. It can also be availed in cases involving the remarriage of widows, as well as abandoned or divorced women whose divorce has been legally finalized. This provision is aimed at extending support to women in vulnerable social circumstances and facilitating remarriage with dignity.
In addition, applicants belonging to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Other Backward Class categories will be required to submit valid caste certificates. It is also mandatory for the bride to have a bank account, as the financial assistance under the scheme will be transferred directly to her account.
The administration said certain categories will be given priority under the scheme. These include destitute girls, daughters of widowed women, daughters of parents with disabilities, and girls who are themselves persons with disabilities. The priority provision is intended to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach those who are most in need of government support.
Interested applicants can apply online through the official portal: cmsvy.upsdc.gov.in. The application can be submitted through Jan Suvidha Kendras, cyber cafes, private internet centers, or by the applicants themselves. For further details, eligible families may contact the concerned Block Development Officer’s office, urban local body office, or the office of the District Social Welfare Officer.
Officials said the mass wedding event scheduled for March 25 is part of the state government’s continued effort to provide social and financial assistance to economically weaker families while promoting simple and organized community marriage ceremonies. The revised financial assistance and wider eligibility criteria are expected to help more beneficiaries avail themselves of the scheme in Gautam Buddh Nagar.
