Gautam Buddh Nagar, March 14, 2026:
The National Lok Adalat was formally inaugurated at the District Court complex in Gautam Buddh Nagar by Ajit Kumar, Judge of the Allahabad High Court and Administrative Judge for the district. The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, marking the official commencement of the Lok Adalat proceedings aimed at resolving pending legal disputes through mutual settlement.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by District Judge Atul Srivastava, Principal Judge Ramkesh, Presiding Officer Lara Sunil Kumar Srivastava, Commercial Court Presiding Officer Jagdish Prasad, Presiding Officer Vatsal Srivastava, Additional District Judge-II and Special Judge (SC/ST Act) as well as Nodal Officer for the National Lok Adalat Somprabha Mishra. Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority Shivani Tyagi, Bar Association President Manoj Bhati, Bar Association Secretary Shobharam Chandela, along with other judges, advocates, and officials from the district administration and police department were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Justice Ajit Kumar highlighted the significance of the National Lok Adalat in the judicial system. He stated that Lok Adalats serve as a strong and effective platform for resolving disputes through mutual agreement in a simple, speedy, and amicable manner. He emphasized that such forums help reduce the burden on courts while ensuring timely justice for citizens.

He urged all concerned officials, advocates, and staff members to actively cooperate and work in coordination to make the National Lok Adalat successful. According to him, dedicated participation from all stakeholders would ensure the resolution of a large number of cases and strengthen public confidence in the justice delivery system.
Following the inauguration ceremony, Justice Ajit Kumar and District Judge Atul Srivastava visited various stalls set up by government departments and institutions within the court complex. These stalls were established to provide information about public welfare schemes and services being implemented by different departments. The dignitaries inaugurated the stalls by cutting the ribbon and interacted with officials to obtain information about the schemes being showcased.
During the visit, Justice Ajit Kumar also interacted with citizens and beneficiaries present at the venue. He encouraged them to take advantage of the various government welfare programs and services available to them.
The Administrative Judge later conducted a tour of the court premises to review the facilities and arrangements available for litigants and legal professionals. During the visit, he inspected the health camp organized within the court complex and personally underwent a blood pressure check. He also encouraged people present at the camp to undergo regular health check-ups and adopt a healthy lifestyle.

As part of the event, the e-Seva Centre and Video Conferencing Centre established at the district court complex were also inaugurated. In addition, the newly constructed gate and guard room at the Civil and Criminal Bar Association premises were inaugurated. Officials present during the event highlighted that these facilities would help improve the functioning of the judicial system and provide greater convenience to lawyers, litigants, and court staff.
Justice Ajit Kumar appreciated the arrangements and noted that the newly developed facilities would enhance efficiency, transparency, and accessibility in judicial proceedings.
Several senior officials attended the event, including Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police Ajay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police Shakti Mohan Awasthi, Ashok Kumar Nim, and Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Mangesh Dubey, along with other officials from the district administration and police department.
The National Lok Adalat organized at the Gautam Buddh Nagar District Court is part of a nationwide initiative aimed at promoting alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and ensuring faster settlement of cases through dialogue and compromise. Officials expressed confidence that the initiative would help resolve a large number of pending disputes and provide quicker relief to litigants.
