Gautam Buddh Nagar, April 24, 2026:
In line with the directions of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the district administration, in collaboration with the health department, private hospitals, and voluntary organizations, organised a large-scale medical outreach programme for workers across Gautam Buddh Nagar. As part of the initiative, 25 medical camps were set up at various locations in the district on April 24, providing free and comprehensive healthcare services to thousands of labourers.
District Magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar conducted an on-ground inspection of one such camp at Ambedkar Bhawan Surajpur. During the visit, the District Magistrate reviewed the facilities being provided and interacted directly with workers to gather feedback on the services. Beneficiaries expressed satisfaction with the arrangements and appreciated the initiative, acknowledging the efforts of the state government.

The camps were designed to deliver a wide range of healthcare services, ensuring that workers received medical attention close to their workplaces. Officials highlighted that the initiative is part of a broader effort by the state government to prioritise worker welfare, including access to healthcare, housing, skill development, and education for their children.
Speaking during the inspection, the District Magistrate said that similar medical camps would continue to be organised in the future and urged workers to take maximum advantage of the free healthcare services. The camps, supported by private hospitals and NGOs, were equipped with modern medical facilities to cater to diverse health needs.

Special emphasis was placed on women’s healthcare, with facilities such as mammography and breast screening made available. Dental care services were also provided, including cavity treatment and other essential procedures. Diagnostic services like X-rays were conducted, while eye check-ups were organised with provisions for free spectacles and cataract surgeries where required.
In addition, pediatric services were offered for children, ensuring that families accompanying workers could also benefit from the initiative. Officials encouraged workers to bring their family members, including children and elderly persons, to the camps for free medical check-ups and treatment.

Chief Medical Officer Narendra Kumar stated that the camp at Surajpur saw participation from multiple institutions and healthcare providers. The health department conducted general check-ups and distributed free medicines to beneficiaries. Development Consortium NGO carried out screenings for non-communicable diseases, tuberculosis, HIV, and cancer, along with providing necessary medicines.
Manas Hospital Foundation facilitated the creation of 25 Ayushman cards, enabling beneficiaries to access future healthcare benefits. Sharda Hospital conducted dental and gynecological examinations, while eye care teams carried out vision tests and distributed free spectacles to several beneficiaries.
Other organizations, including Natural Care NGO, deployed mobile medical units for TB and HIV testing, while Aavahan NGO, with support from NTPC, also conducted health screenings and awareness activities.
The camps were organised across multiple labour-dense areas, including Surajpur, Barola, Sector 16 slums, Sarfabad, Sector 15 Naya Bans, Sector 8 slums, Chhoda, Malkpur, Asgarpur, Chhapraula, Habibpur, Nagla Ilahabas, Nayagaon, Salarpur, Vedapur, Chhalera, Gejha, Sector 9 slums, Mangrauli, Roza Jalalpur, Kulesra, Kakrala, and Bhangel village. Thousands of male and female workers attended these camps and availed the healthcare services.
Officials stated that the initiative has significantly improved access to quality healthcare for workers by bringing services directly to their localities. The programme not only facilitated health check-ups but also ensured free treatment and early detection of diseases.
Looking ahead, the administration announced a major health campaign scheduled for May 1, during which 201 medical camps will be organised across the district. Additionally, all government hospitals and 22 private hospitals will participate in providing free health check-ups, surgeries, and other medical services for workers throughout the day.
The large-scale is expected to further strengthen healthcare access for the labour community and reflects the administration’s commitment to inclusive and accessible public health services in the district.
