Greater Noida: The Greater Noida Authority has taken immediate cognisance of complaints regarding the supply of contaminated water in Sector Delta One and initiated a prompt investigation through its Water Department. Acting on the directions of the Authority’s Additional Chief Executive Officer, Sunil Kumar Singh, a dedicated team from the Water Department visited the area to assess the situation and verify the claims made by local residents.

According to officials, the Water Department team conducted on-ground inspections at the residences of those sector residents who had lodged complaints about contaminated water supply. During the inspection, water samples were checked directly at the households concerned. The department stated that the water supplied to most of these homes was found to be clean and suitable for use.

Officials further clarified that during the inspection, an issue was detected at only one household, where a problem was found in the supply connection. In another location, a pipeline leakage was identified. Both issues were addressed immediately by the department, and repair work was carried out on the spot to prevent any further inconvenience to residents. The Authority has categorically stated that no evidence of sewer water mixing with the drinking water supply was found during the inspection.

The Water Department also carried out an additional round of sampling in the evening, coinciding with the scheduled water supply. These fresh samples have been collected and will be sent to a laboratory for detailed testing to rule out any possibility of contamination. The Authority has maintained that all necessary precautions are being taken to ensure the safety and quality of drinking water supplied to residents.

In the wake of a recent water contamination incident reported in Indore, the Greater Noida Authority has decided to strengthen its monitoring mechanism. Taking a proactive approach, Chief Executive Officer N G Ravi Kumar has directed that random water quality checks be conducted across all areas of Greater Noida. These instructions are aimed at preventing any potential incidents and ensuring public health safety.

Additional Chief Executive Officer Sunil Kumar Singh stated that the Water Department has been instructed to carry out random sampling and testing of water at multiple locations. He explained that in areas where water supply is managed directly by the Greater Noida Authority, the Authority itself will conduct regular water quality testing. This move is intended to maintain strict oversight over the water supply system and address any issues at the earliest.

For builder-developed and cooperative housing societies, the Authority has issued clear instructions to the respective management bodies, including builders and Apartment Owners Associations. These management committees have been directed to ensure regular cleaning of water reservoirs, conduct periodic water sample testing, and submit the test reports to the Water Department of the Greater Noida Authority. Officials said that formal communication in this regard is being issued by the Water Department to ensure compliance.

The Authority has also extended these directives to industrial, commercial, IT, and institutional areas within Greater Noida. Water quality checks in these zones have been made mandatory as part of the comprehensive monitoring drive. Officials emphasised that maintaining water quality in all categories of areas is essential, given the scale of development and population in the city.

In addition, the Greater Noida Authority has appealed to residents to immediately inform the Water Department if they notice any instance of contaminated water supply in the Authority area. Prompt reporting, officials said, would help the department take swift corrective action and prevent inconvenience or health risks to the public.

For lodging complaints related to contaminated water supply, the Authority has shared contact details of senior officials in the Water Department. Residents can contact the Senior Manager (Water) at 9205691408 or the Manager (Water) at 8937024017 to report issues or seek assistance.

The Greater Noida Authority reiterated its commitment to ensuring the supply of clean and safe drinking water to all residents and stated that strict monitoring, timely inspections, and coordinated efforts with housing societies and other stakeholders would continue to be a top priority.
