The Chief Executive Officer conducted a high-level review meeting today with senior officials from various departments to assess the progress of key civic functions and public services. During the meeting, the CEO issued firm instructions emphasizing that matters related to public interest, urban infrastructure, and the sanitation system must be handled with utmost seriousness. The CEO made it categorically clear that any form of negligence or laxity in the delivery of public services would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Strict Action on Water Pollution Incident; High-Level Technical Committee Formed
Taking serious note of the loss of life caused due to water pollution in Indore, the CEO announced the formation of a high-level technical committee comprising senior officials from the Water Department. This committee has been tasked with identifying issues related to leakage and corrosion in water pipelines, as well as thoroughly examining the quality of water supplied through reservoirs and Water ATMs.
The committee will collect water samples from different areas of the city and conduct detailed technical examinations. Based on these findings, the committee will submit a comprehensive report at the earliest. The objective of this exercise is to ensure that corrective measures are implemented promptly and that such incidents are not repeated in the future. The CEO stressed that ensuring the safety and purity of drinking water is a top priority and that accountability will be fixed wherever lapses are found.
With regard to the Ganga Jal Project, the CEO issued clear instructions that all works related to the 80-cusec Ganga Jal Project must be completed by January 2026. Officers concerned were directed to closely monitor progress and remove any administrative or technical bottlenecks to ensure timely completion of the project.
Special Team Constituted for Road Infrastructure Improvement
During the review of ongoing development works, the CEO expressed concern over the condition of road infrastructure in certain areas. To address these issues, a special team has been constituted with the membership of Additional Chief Executive Officer Vandana Tripathi and Officer on Special Duty Mahendra Prasad. In compliance with the CEO’s directions, the team conducted an inspection of the entire stretch of Master Plan Road-3 on the same day.
The team has been instructed to prepare and submit a detailed action plan for the improvement of this road within the next 15 days. The CEO emphasized that road development works must be durable, time-bound, and aligned with urban planning standards to minimize inconvenience to citizens.
The CEO also expressed deep dissatisfaction over the slow pace of pond construction works across the city. Contractors and concerned officials responsible for delays were issued a final warning and directed to accelerate construction activities immediately. The CEO made it clear that further delays would invite strict administrative action.
Health Department Review; Orders for Modern Cleaning Equipment
While reviewing the functioning of the Health Department, the CEO issued important directions aimed at modernizing health and sanitation services in the city. Instructions were given for the procurement of advanced mechanized machines for cleaning operations, along with medium-sized equipment specifically for the cleaning of drains and nalas.
In view of the prevailing unsanitary conditions in several parts of the city, the CEO took strict action against officers found negligent in their duties. Out of four Assistant Project Engineers of the Public Health Department, three—Umesh Chand, Rahul Gupta, and Sushil Kumar—were served show-cause notices for slackness in work. Additionally, their salary disbursement has been put on hold until further orders.
The CEO reiterated that cleanliness and public health are non-negotiable priorities and that officers entrusted with these responsibilities must perform their duties with full commitment and accountability. The administration, the CEO stated, will continue to conduct regular reviews and will not hesitate to take stringent action to ensure efficient governance and improved quality of life for city residents.
