Noida, December 26, 2025:
Under the directions of the Police Commissioner of Gautam Buddh Nagar Commissionerate and the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), the Traffic Police carried out a large-scale enforcement and awareness अभियान on Thursday to ensure compliance with traffic rules and enhance road safety across the district. The drive resulted in a total of 6,308 e-challans being issued in a single day, reflecting the intensity of the operation and the administration’s focus on disciplined traffic management.
According to official data released by the Traffic Police, a total of 2,798 challans were issued manually by traffic personnel deployed on the ground, while 3,510 vehicles were penalised through the Integrated Smart Traffic Management System (ISTMS) cameras installed at various key locations. In addition to the challans, strict action was taken against serious violators, leading to the seizure of 19 vehicles during the enforcement drive.
The police said the operation was conducted as part of a continuous effort to curb traffic violations that often lead to accidents, congestion and loss of life. Special emphasis was laid on violations that directly threaten road safety, including riding without helmets, over-speeding, triple riding on two-wheelers and non-use of seat belts.
As part of a dedicated special enforcement campaign, traffic police recorded a significant number of violations across different categories. A total of 2,512 challans were issued for riding without helmets, highlighting persistent negligence among two-wheeler riders. Over-speeding, another major cause of road accidents, accounted for 548 challans. Meanwhile, 131 cases were booked for triple riding on two-wheelers, and 109 challans were issued for not wearing seat belts.
In view of prevailing weather conditions, the Traffic Police also undertook preventive and awareness-oriented measures to reduce the risk of accidents caused by dense fog. Officials said that foggy conditions during winter significantly reduce visibility, increasing the chances of collisions, especially during early morning and late evening hours.
To address this concern, traffic personnel installed reflective tapes on vehicles along the Kisan Chowk route, a stretch identified as particularly vulnerable during foggy conditions. The reflective tapes are intended to improve vehicle visibility on the road, thereby reducing the likelihood of accidents in low-visibility situations.
Alongside enforcement, traffic police teams actively engaged with commuters and drivers to spread awareness about road safety. Motorists were educated about traffic rules, road signs and the importance of following safety norms, including wearing helmets and seat belts, maintaining speed limits and avoiding overloading or unsafe riding practices. The campaign was carried out under the broader message of “Road Safety, Life Safety,” emphasising that adherence to traffic rules is essential not only to avoid penalties but also to save lives.
Senior traffic officials stated that such combined enforcement and awareness drives are crucial to instilling a culture of responsible driving. They reiterated that strict action will continue against habitual offenders and those who endanger the lives of others by violating traffic laws.
The Gautam Buddh Nagar Traffic Police have appealed to citizens to cooperate with enforcement agencies and follow traffic rules in letter and spirit. Officials stressed that compliance with traffic regulations is a shared responsibility and plays a vital role in reducing accidents, ensuring smoother traffic flow and safeguarding lives, especially during challenging weather conditions like winter fog.
The Traffic Police further indicated that similar drives will be conducted regularly across the district in the coming days to strengthen road safety and maintain discipline on city roads.
