Noida
The District Congress Committee of Gautam Buddh Nagar on Tuesday carried out a site inspection in Sector 150, Noida, following the tragic death of young software engineer Yuvraj Purohit. The inspection was led by District Congress President Deepak Bhati Chotiwala, along with party office-bearers and workers, who termed the incident a result of grave administrative negligence and lack of accountability.
Yuvraj Purohit, described by party leaders as a bright and promising young professional, lost his life under what they called “deeply distressing circumstances,” despite the presence of administrative machinery in the area. The Congress delegation visited the accident site to assess the situation firsthand and gathered detailed information about the sequence of events that led to the fatal incident.
Allegations of Administrative Negligence
Speaking at the site, Deepak Bhati Chotiwala said that Yuvraj Purohit’s death should not be seen as a mere accident. He alleged that the incident reflected serious lapses on the part of the administration, including negligence, insensitivity, and a complete absence of accountability.
“The manner in which this incident occurred clearly indicates that safety norms were ignored by the concerned departments and officials. A talented young life has been lost due to administrative failure,” he said. According to him, if proper safety arrangements and preventive measures had been in place, the tragedy could have been avoided.
Meeting With the Bereaved Family
After inspecting the site, the District Congress delegation visited the victim’s family at their housing society to express condolences and solidarity. Party leaders assured the family that the Congress would stand firmly with them and fight for justice at every level.
During the visit, Yuvraj Purohit’s uncle, Sanjay Mehta, spoke over the phone with Ajay Rai, President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee. Ajay Rai expressed deep condolences to the family and assured them that the Congress party would take the matter seriously and make every possible effort to ensure strict action against those responsible.
He told the family that the party would not allow the issue to be ignored and would continue to raise it until accountability is fixed and justice is delivered.
Demand for FIR and Strict Action
District Congress President Deepak Bhati Chotiwala demanded that an immediate FIR be registered against the officials of the authority and other individuals found responsible for the incident. He stressed that mere transfers of officials would not suffice.
“Only registering cases against the guilty will send a clear message. Cosmetic actions like transfers cannot replace legal accountability,” he said.
He further demanded that the bereaved family be provided with compassionate financial assistance and that concrete safety measures be implemented to prevent such incidents in the future.
Criticism of the State Government
Targeting the state government, Deepak Bhati Chotiwala alleged that under the present administration, the value of an ordinary citizen’s life has diminished. He said that frequent incidents of deaths caused by negligence in Noida and surrounding areas expose serious shortcomings in governance, law and order, and administrative efficiency.
“Such incidents are becoming routine, and they highlight the failure of the system to protect citizens. The government must answer why basic safety standards are repeatedly being ignored,” he said.
He added that the Congress party would not remain silent and would continue its struggle until Yuvraj Purohit receives justice.
Senior Congress Leaders Present
Several senior District Congress leaders and workers were present during the inspection and interaction with the family. Those present included Gautam Awana, Rizwan Chaudhary, R. K. Pratham, Arun Gurjar, Arvind Rexwal, Subodh Bhatt, Basant Kumar, Amit Barhela, along with local residents and supporters.
Party leaders reiterated that the incident has shaken public confidence and raised serious questions about safety and administrative responsibility in rapidly developing urban areas like Noida.
Commitment to Continue the Fight
The District Congress Committee concluded the visit by reiterating its commitment to pursue the matter at political, administrative, and legal levels. Leaders said the party would continue to press for justice, accountability, and systemic reforms to ensure that such tragedies are not repeated.
They emphasized that Yuvraj Purohit’s death should serve as a wake-up call for authorities to prioritize public safety and enforce accountability, rather than allowing negligence to go unchecked.
