Delhi, December 29, 2025:
Delhi Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood conducted an inspection of sanitation facilities at two locations in Ward 107 of the Vikaspuri Assembly constituency today, focusing on improving cleanliness and waste management in the area. The inspection covered the vicinity of DAV Public School and the PM Society, where the minister reviewed the status of waste disposal systems, including FCTS, and issued specific directions to the concerned officials.

Following the inspection, Minister Sood instructed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to install view-cutters in front of the garbage dumps at both locations. This measure is aimed at preventing passersby from seeing exposed waste and ensuring a cleaner environment for residents. He further directed the MCD to study and identify alternative sites for relocating these garbage dumps away from residential areas, prioritising suitability and convenience.
Speaking about the government’s sanitation initiatives, Minister Sood highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Government is committed to creating a clean, healthy, and well-organised capital city. He noted that all ministers, including the Chief Minister, regularly inspect sanitation and development works to strengthen systems and ensure effective implementation at the ground level.

Minister Sood also announced that the Delhi Government has provided a financial grant of ₹175 crore to the MCD to enhance its operational capacity. In addition, a proposal for an extra ₹500 crore grant is under consideration by the Delhi Cabinet to further support municipal services.
To improve efficiency and reduce human resource dependency, the minister said that every assembly constituency in Delhi will be provided with a mechanical sweeping machine. This initiative aims to facilitate faster street cleaning while achieving more effective results with fewer personnel, allowing remaining staff to be deployed for other essential municipal services.

Minister Sood emphasised the growing importance of scientific and organised waste disposal, noting that as the city’s population increases, waste generation also rises. Proper waste management is crucial to prevent inconvenience to residents and maintain public health standards.
He reiterated that under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s leadership, sanitation is treated not merely as a campaign but as a top priority linked to citizen facilities and public health. Every area in Delhi is being provided with transparent, timely, and high-quality sanitation services, with ground-level inspections serving to ensure that residents have access to a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
The minister’s directives mark a continued effort by the Delhi Government to strengthen urban sanitation infrastructure, enhance waste management systems, and ensure a cleaner, greener, and healthier capital for all residents.
