New Delhi, December 30, 2025:
Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Monday interacted with jawans and officers of the 103rd Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force at the Delhi Vidhan Sabha, lauding their courage, discipline and professionalism in safeguarding India’s internal security. The interaction was held in the presence of CRPF personnel along with their families and children, reflecting an effort to acknowledge not only the service of the jawans but also the sacrifices made by their families.

Addressing the gathering, Vijender Gupta said that CRPF personnel operate in some of the most challenging and sensitive security environments in the country and form the backbone of India’s internal security framework. He praised the force for its unwavering commitment, discipline and bravery, noting that the CRPF continues to play a crucial role in maintaining public order and national stability across diverse regions.

Senior officers of the 103rd Battalion, including the Deputy Commandant, Assistant Commandant and other officials, were present during the interaction. The Speaker commended the CRPF for its historic and continuing contributions in countering militancy and insurgency, tackling Left Wing Extremism, ensuring security during elections, protecting vital installations and dignitaries, and assisting civil authorities during emergencies and natural calamities. He also acknowledged the force’s role in United Nations peacekeeping missions, underlining India’s contribution to global peace and stability.

Vijender Gupta made special mention of CRPF personnel who have served in some of the country’s most difficult and sensitive regions, including Jammu and Kashmir, Dantewada, Sukma, Bijapur and other conflict-affected areas. He praised their dedication, courage and professionalism, stating that such service under demanding conditions reflects the highest standards of commitment to the nation.

During his address, the Speaker also highlighted the rich historical and democratic legacy of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha. He said the institution traces its origins back to 1911, when the Third Delhi Durbar marked King George V’s announcement of shifting the capital of British India from Calcutta to Delhi. He noted that over the past 113 years, the Assembly has witnessed significant political and legislative evolution.

Recalling key moments from India’s legislative history, Vijender Gupta said early nationalist leaders such as Gopal Krishna Gokhale and Lala Lajpat Rai had raised Indian concerns in legislative forums during the colonial era. He referred to the impact of events such as the Rowlatt Act, the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919 and India’s substantial contribution during the First World War, noting that these developments shaped the country’s political consciousness.

The Speaker pointed out that the Central Hall of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha has been the venue for several defining moments in India’s parliamentary history. These include the first convocation of Delhi University in 1923 and the passage of important legislation in 1925. He said that although legislative proceedings later shifted following the completion of the new Parliament building in 1927, the Delhi Vidhan Sabha continues to stand as a living symbol of India’s democratic heritage and constitutional journey.

As part of the programme, the CRPF jawans and officers were given a guided tour of the Assembly House. They were familiarised with the functioning, traditions and parliamentary practices of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha. The families and children of CRPF personnel also participated in the tour, during which they were introduced to the 113-year-old legislative heritage of the Assembly and its enduring role in India’s democratic framework.

On the occasion, Vijender Gupta also presented a coffee table book titled *“Delhi Legislative Assembly presents Shatabdi-Yatra: Veer Vithalbhai Patel”* to the CRPF personnel as a memento. Describing the publication as a significant historical document, he said the book chronicles India’s parliamentary journey from 1925 to 2025, capturing a century of legislative evolution and democratic transformation through rare archival photographs, historic documents and key moments in parliamentary history.

The Speaker noted that the coffee table book was inaugurated by the Vice-President of India and was also presented to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, highlighting its national importance. He said the publication pays tribute to the enduring legacy of Veer Vithalbhai Patel, whose leadership played a pivotal role in laying the foundation of India’s modern parliamentary traditions.

Vijender Gupta expressed his deep appreciation for the jawans and officers of the Central Reserve Police Force for their dedicated service to the nation. He extended his best wishes for their continued contribution towards safeguarding national unity, democratic values and internal security, reiterating that the sacrifices and professionalism of the CRPF remain central to the strength and stability of the country.
