New Delhi, December 30, 2025:
Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood on Monday strongly criticised the Aam Aadmi Party, accusing it of running a deliberate misinformation campaign to mislead the public and disturb Delhi’s social fabric. Addressing a press conference at the Delhi Secretariat, Ashish Sood said false narratives were being systematically pushed on social media to malign the Delhi government and its administrative decisions.
Referring to what he described as a “coordinated social media campaign” on Sunday, Ashish Sood said AAP leaders spread false claims throughout the day alleging that school teachers in Delhi had been assigned the task of counting stray dogs. He categorically denied the allegation, calling it a complete lie. The minister challenged the Aam Aadmi Party to make public any official order or circular, if such a directive ever existed. “If AAP has any document proving that teachers were asked to count stray dogs, they should place it in the public domain immediately. Otherwise, they must apologise publicly to the people of Delhi for spreading lies,” he said.
The education minister also accused AAP of attempting to create administrative chaos by spreading misinformation over the suspension of certain tehsildars and sub-registrars. He questioned why the party appeared to be defending officials facing action. Ashish Sood alleged that corruption had flourished openly in these offices during AAP’s tenure. He said now that the government led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has begun taking firm action against corruption, AAP is standing in support of those accused of wrongdoing. “Why does AAP have such deep affection for corrupt officials?” he asked.
Ashish Sood further pointed out that around December 25, AAP had posted another misleading message on social media claiming that the Delhi government had issued instructions to schools to take action against children who dressed up as Santa Claus. Calling the claim baseless, he said no such order was ever issued by the government. He challenged AAP to make any such directive public if it existed, accusing the party of manufacturing controversies to stay politically relevant.
On issues related to the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board, Ashish Sood said AAP had once again tried to create confusion deliberately. He said that through DSSSB, around 16,000 candidates had already qualified in 2022. According to him, the false narrative around DSSSB exposed the administrative failure and incompetence of the previous AAP government, which was unable to deliver results despite being in power for years.
Launching a broader political attack, the education minister said the people of Delhi had decisively rejected AAP’s so-called education model, its leadership and its political claims in the elections. He said the party’s education minister, chief minister and even leaders projecting themselves as national figures had all been defeated. Ashish Sood described AAP’s politics as being based on fraud, forgery and falsehood, and said the electorate had clearly seen through it.
Ashish Sood said that even ten months after its electoral defeat, AAP has failed to accept the verdict of the people and has completely lost its political ground. He accused the party of repeatedly making unsubstantiated allegations and then retreating without evidence. “Lying without proof and then disappearing will not help AAP regain the credibility it has lost,” he said.
The minister alleged that AAP neither did any substantial work for education in Delhi nor contributed meaningfully to administrative development. Instead, he said, the party relied on noise, misinformation and constant accusations to divert attention from its failures. He reiterated that Delhi voters had rejected AAP’s claims of an exceptional education model, as reflected in the defeat of its top leadership.
Ashish Sood said that the current Delhi government is focused on governance and public welfare, which is why AAP is resorting to spreading rumours and falsehoods on social media to defame the administration. He accused the party of deliberately trying to undermine public trust by circulating baseless claims.
Concluding the press conference, the education minister said the government will continue to expose misinformation and remain focused on transparent, accountable governance. He asserted that attempts to mislead the public through lies and propaganda would not succeed, and the Delhi government would not be distracted from its commitment to public interest and administrative reform.
