Date: 4 February 2026
Location: Noida
The New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA Authority) has taken a significant step towards strengthening pedestrian safety and improving urban mobility by initiating the construction of a modern skywalk at the Sector-62 Model Town roundabout. The foundation stone for the project was formally laid on 4 February 2026.

The foundation-laying ceremony was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Member of Parliament from Gautam Buddh Nagar, Dr. Mahesh Sharma; Hon’ble MLA from Noida, Shri Pankaj Singh; Additional Chief Executive Officers of NOIDA Authority, Smt. Vandana Tripathi and Shri Satish Pal; along with senior officials from the NOIDA Traffic Cell, including General Managers Shri S.P. Singh and Shri S.K. Arora.
The skywalk project, to be constructed at a cost of ₹28.34 crore, aims to provide safe and convenient passage for pedestrians coming from Noida, Ghaziabad, Vaishali, Indirapuram, and Delhi. Sector-62 Model Town roundabout is one of the busiest traffic intersections in Noida, witnessing heavy vehicular movement throughout the day. The proposed skywalk is expected to significantly reduce accident risks and enhance pedestrian safety.

As per the project plan, the skywalk will have four designated entry and exit points. These include one access point towards Sector-62, one towards Sector-63, and two access points from National Highway-09 (NH-09). This design will ensure seamless connectivity for pedestrians approaching the junction from multiple directions.
The skywalk will be constructed using a modern mild steel (MS) structure, adhering to advanced engineering and safety standards. The total length of the skywalk will be approximately 530 meters, comprising a 350-meter circular section and a 180-meter straight section. To enhance accessibility, the project includes the provision of two elevators and two escalators, ensuring ease of movement for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, women, and children.
The NOIDA Authority has set a completion timeline of 18 months for the project. Strict emphasis will be placed on construction quality, safety norms, and timely execution. Once completed, the skywalk is expected not only to ease pedestrian movement but also to reduce traffic congestion and enhance the overall urban aesthetics of the area.
Reiterating its commitment to building a smart, safe, and citizen-friendly city, the NOIDA Authority stated that infrastructure projects such as this skywalk are crucial for sustainable urban development. The initiative reflects the Authority’s vision of making Noida a modern city with pedestrian-centric infrastructure and improved quality of life for its residents.
