Noida:
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the death of engineer Yuvraj Mehta on Thursday carried out an on-site inspection at the incident location in Sector 150, Noida, as the investigation gathered pace. Senior officials from multiple departments accompanied the SIT during the visit, indicating a comprehensive review of the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

According to officials, the inspection was led by the SIT team along with the Additional Director General (ADG) of Meerut Zone Bhanu Bhaskar, Divisional Commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami, and the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD). The senior officers closely examined the site to understand the ground conditions and assess whether safety norms and administrative procedures were followed.

Detailed On-Site Examination

During the inspection, the SIT team carefully reviewed the area where the incident occurred, taking note of physical conditions, access points, drainage and construction-related aspects, and overall site management. Officials were seen discussing technical and administrative details on the spot, with particular focus on factors that may have contributed to the incident.

Sources said that the inspection aimed to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the death of engineer Yuvraj Mehta and to identify any lapses in planning, maintenance, or supervision. The presence of senior officers from the police administration, civil administration, and engineering departments highlights the seriousness with which the case is being examined.

Meetings With Officials Likely

After the site visit, the SIT is expected to hold meetings with concerned officials and departments to seek further clarifications. Sources indicated that discussions may take place with officers from the Noida Authority, PWD, and other relevant agencies to review documents, approvals, safety measures, and compliance with established norms.

The SIT may also question officials responsible for oversight of the area to determine accountability and identify whether any negligence occurred at the administrative or operational level.

Offices of Two Builders Sealed

As part of the investigation, action has also been taken against private entities linked to the project area. Officials confirmed that the offices of two builders associated with the site have been sealed. The move is aimed at preserving records and preventing any tampering with documents or evidence that may be relevant to the probe.

Sources said that documents related to construction, maintenance, and safety compliance are expected to be examined as part of the ongoing investigation. Sealing the offices is seen as a precautionary step to ensure transparency and protect the integrity of the inquiry.

Focus on Accountability

The SIT has been tasked with conducting an impartial and thorough investigation into the death of engineer Yuvraj Mehta. Officials reiterated that the probe is focused on establishing the facts, fixing responsibility, and recommending action against those found at fault.

The on-site inspection in Sector 150 follows earlier steps taken by the SIT, including seeking detailed explanations from the Noida Authority and reviewing technical and disaster-related reports. The team is examining whether any violations of safety standards or procedural lapses could have been prevented.

Next Steps in the Investigation

Following the site inspection, the SIT is expected to analyse its findings along with documentary evidence collected so far. Further inspections, official meetings, and expert assessments may be conducted if necessary. Based on the conclusions drawn, the SIT will prepare its report, which may include recommendations for administrative action, systemic reforms, or legal proceedings.

Officials assured that the investigation is being conducted with full seriousness and that all aspects of the case will be examined in detail. Further developments are expected as the SIT continues its probe into the circumstances surrounding the death of engineer Yuvraj Mehta.
