The comprehensive security audit of the Noida International Airport has been completed, and officials indicated that the final assessment report may be submitted to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) by Tuesday. The evaluation marks a crucial step in the airport’s preparedness process as authorities work to meet all national and international security standards ahead of its operational readiness milestones. The audit focuses on ensuring that the airport’s security infrastructure, access systems, surveillance networks, and procedural frameworks are fully aligned with the guidelines mandated for major international airports.
The security review gained urgency after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu conducted a joint inspection at the airport site last Thursday. During the visit, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) raised several observations regarding existing measures and instructed the airport operator to carry out necessary corrections within a defined timeframe.
BCAS Concludes Multi-Day Security Inspection, Findings to Be Forwarded to DGCA
Following the ministerial visit, a dedicated BCAS team conducted a two-phase security inspection on Friday and Monday. These checks included physical verification of security installations, scrutiny of perimeter control mechanisms, examination of passenger screening infrastructure, and a detailed assessment of emergency response systems. According to officials, the team evaluated not only the technical components but also the operational readiness of trained personnel responsible for managing security protocols during peak passenger movement.
Shailendra Bhatia, nodal officer of Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), confirmed that the BCAS concluded its on-ground inspection on Monday. He stated that the bureau is now finalising its formal report, which will be submitted directly to the DGCA for further review and regulatory approvals. The DGCA’s assessment will play a decisive role in clearing the airport for subsequent stages, including trial operations and eventual flight handling.
Bhatia noted that the observations raised earlier during the ministerial inspection were addressed promptly, and corrective actions have been implemented as per BCAS guidelines. These include enhanced perimeter surveillance, reinforcement of access control points, and alignment of safety procedures with global civil aviation benchmarks.
DGCA Approval Crucial for Next Phase of Airport Readiness
The DGCA’s evaluation of the BCAS report is an essential requirement before the airport can move into operational testing. Experts say the approval will determine whether the airport qualifies for advanced clearances, such as safety certifications, passenger handling permissions, and commercial flight trials. The Noida International Airport, set to become one of India’s largest greenfield aviation hubs, is being closely monitored at every stage due to its strategic importance for the NCR region.
Authorities believe that once the DGCA acknowledges the security audit findings, the airport operator will be able to fast-track final installations, staff deployment, and simulated operation exercises. These steps are critical to meeting the timelines targeted by the Uttar Pradesh government and the Union Civil Aviation Ministry.
Airport officials maintain that the security audit is a routine but rigorous requirement designed to ensure that new international airports meet the highest levels of passenger safety, emergency preparedness, and digital security compliance. The upcoming DGCA report submission marks one of the final major assessments before the project approaches its operational phase.
